The AGE-2DB Gundam AGE-2 Double Bullet is the second wear configuration of the AGE-2 Gundam AGE-2 Normal introduced in the Mobile Suit Gundam AGE anime. It is piloted by Asemu Asuno.

Technology & Combat Characteristics[]

The Gundam AGE-2 Double Bullet is a variant of the AGE-2 designed for dealing with multiple opponents simultaneously, including X-Rounders.[1][2] The machine is optimized for Asemu's dual wielding preferences and has new cockpit controls.[2] The AGE-2 Double Bullet retains the standard beam sabers on the rear skirts, and has new weapons in the form of the twin DODS cannons and large beam sabers that are mounted on the shoulders, as well as calf missiles located on the back of the legs, giving the suit a great degree of firepower. It also has drastically enhanced search system.[2]

Armaments[]

  • Twin DODS Cannon
The Twin DODS Cannons is the primary ranged weapon of Gundam AGE-2 Double Bullet. They are mounted on the red shoulder binders and can rotate in any direction, allowing the suit to shoot down enemy units without moving its arms. When required, they can be dismounted and be wielded as a pair of DODS Rifles.[2]
  • Beam Saber
A pair of beam sabers located on the rear skirt that can be used for close combat during battle.
  • Large Beam Saber
Two large beam sabers are mounted in the red binders where the Twin DODS Cannons are stored. The red binders are capable of emitting the large beam sabers only after the DODS cannons are removed. The large sabers allow the pilot to quickly counter enemy's melee attack when there is no time to draw out its main beam sabers.
  • Calf Missile
Four calf missile launchers are mounted at the back of the legs, the missiles fired are used for bombardment or to distract the enemies.

System Features[]

The AGE System is the Special OS engineered by the lineage of the Asuno family. It researches the evolution of living beings by digitizing the mysteries surrounding it and collects battle data to customize itself, grows alongside the pilot and is customized and used exclusively by the pilot itself. The only way for this system to be used and the Gundam to mobilize is by using the AGE Device.

History[]

The Double Bullet would first be used midway during a battle between the Vagans and the Federation near Solon City, where the heavier firepower would take the Vagans by surprise and would allow Asemu to destroy two units of the Vagans' Magicians 8. When Desil would lead an attack with the remaining members of the Magicians 8 after the previous skirmish, Asemu would steal the helmet of a fallen X-Rounder pilot when he sortied with the Double Bullet to meet them. Though the helmet would drastically improve Asemu's performance and allowed the Double Bullet to kill Leo Louis and damage Mink Leiden's Xvv-xcm Zedas M, the stress of its usage would overwhelm Asemu, knocking him out and forcing others to help the Double Bullet back to the Diva.

During the decisive battle of Nocturne, the Double Bullet would fight in the frontlines alongside Woolf Enneacle's WMS-GB5 G-Bouncer against Desil Galette's xvm-dgc Khronos. Asemu, however, would overextend, and the Double Bullet would be grabbed by Zafar Rogue and Ned Kahn's Zedas Ms before Desil would rush in for a killing blow. Woolf would quickly free Asemu, but would be unable to dodge Desil's attack, forcing him to push the Double Bullet before the G-Bouncer would be stabbed near its cockpit and exploding afterwards.

Enraged by Woolf's death, Asemu would fight with enough passion that even Desil's X-Rounder abilities were unable to keep up with the Double Bullet, which eventually would slice Desil's Khronos apart before destroying it with the Double Bullet's Twin DODS Cannons. As the Vagans began targeting the component parts for the Federation's Photon Ring Ray Blaster, Asemu would move to engage Zeheart Galette's Xvm-zgc Zeydra equally. While keeping Zeheart occupied, the Federation forces would successfully charge a second attack with the Photon Ring Ray Blaster and grazed the Vagan fortress, Downes. Unfortunately, the attack would cause Downes to lose navigation controls and begin plummeting towards Earth instead. Upon seeing this, Asemu would abandon his fight with Zeheart and would enter the fortress in the hopes of destroying its energy core to break it apart in Earth's ozone.

While attempting to find the core, Asemu would encounter Zeheart, and the pair would put their differences aside as the latter would lead them to Downes's core as well as providing their units with the Colony Breakers needed for the job. Before both could give their lives, however, an explosion tears a new escape route for the two, and both the Zeydra and the Double Bullet would escape Downes. Despite this, the explosions inside the fortress would send debris towards the pair, and Zeheart would choose to knock Asemu back into space while his unit would continue to plummet down to Earth.

Notes & Trivia[]

  • Zeheart's statement about Asemu relying on the Double Bullet's abilities rather than his own skills to win the fight during the Gundam's debut battle is a reference to both Char Aznable's first encounter with Amuro Ray's RX-78-2 Gundam and the final duel of Ramba Ral's MS-07B Gouf before it was destroyed by the Gundam.
  • In the Gundam Vs. series, Asemu can swap between both the Double Bullet and the AGE-2 Normal. In comparison with AGE-2 Normal, AGE-2 Double Bullet has better firepower and defense, but is bulkier and slower. Additionally, both units can summon Woolf's G-Bouncer for support.
