The Ame No Minashira (Pillar of Heaven) is an Orb Union space station introduced in the manga Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Astray and is owned by the Sahaku family.

Overview[]

History[]

Originally constructed as the first part of an orbital elevator proposed by Uzumi Nara Athha in C.E. 58. The station itself was meant to be used to manufacture parts of the orbital elevator using resources transported from the moon and asteroids. However, war broke out between the Earth Alliance and PLANT, forcing the Orb Union to build up its military and convert Ame No Minashira into a weapons factory. The station was placed under the jurisdiction of the Sahaku family due to their close ties with the military.

Because it was located in a weightless environment, the space station was ideal for producing advanced materials requiring the low weight conditions needed to achieve stable quality, such as materials for Phase Shift armor and foaming metal used in the construction of the Astray prototypes and the mass production version. The station also served as a production facility for the mass-production mobile suit MBF-M1A M1A Astray, and its workers included Orb citizens who fled the country following the Alliance's invasion of Orb. It was also seen that the station held the MBF-P01-Re2AMATU Gundam Astray Gold Frame Amatsu Mina, a GAT-X133 Sword Calamity, a GAT-333 Raider Full Spec, a GAT-X255 Forbidden Blue, two GAT-01D Long Dagger, and numerous MBF-M1 Astrays.

During the later part of the war, Junk Guild member Lowe Guele approached Rondo Mina Sahaku at Ame No Mihashira and requested use of the facility to construct the parts needed to complete and bring out the full power of the YMF-X000A Dreadnought Gundam. Mina granted the request, and with the facilities' resources, Lowe constructed a DRAGOON backpack for the Dreadnought and christened the mobile suit as 'X Astray'.
