The Daedalus lunar base is a moon base which appears in the series Gundam SEED Destiny.

History

Built at an unknown point of time after the Bloody Valentine War, the Daedalus base is another Earth Alliance moon base active in CE 74 besides the Arzachel lunar base. Unlike the Arzachel base and the former Ptolemaeus lunar base, the Daedalus base is located on the dark side of the moon, built in the Daedalus crater. The base is also the location of the powerful Requiem superweapon.

In CE 74 Lord Djibril, the last remaining member of the secret society Logos, moved there from Orb after Logos' defeat at Heaven's Base and ZAFT's invasion of Orb. Djibirl intended to use Requiem to wipe out the PLANT Supreme Council in Aprilius One. The attack failed but instead destroyed several other PLANTs. To prevent another attack, PLANT chairman Gilbert Durandal ordered the Minerva to attack the base and seize control of Requiem. When the Minerva attacked, they met resistance in form of three GFAS-X1 Destroy units, at least two YMAF-X6BD Zamza-Zahs, two YMAG-X7F Gells-Ghes, and multiple TS-MB1B Euclids and GAT-04 Windams. The Mobile Weapons however were no match against ZAFT's advanced Gundam-type Mobile Suits, who destroyed all attacking units, while ZGMF-X56S Impulse pilot Lunamaria Hawke used her unit to enter the base and destroy the control room for Requiem before it could fire again. At the same time, Djibril tried to escape on the Girty Lue but ZGMF-X666S Legend pilot Rey Za Burrel destroyed the ship and killed Djibril.

The Daedalus base eventually fell into ZAFT's hands and Durandal used the Requiem cannon to destroy the Earth Alliance' remaining stronghold in space, the Arzachel base, killing the president of the Atlantic Federation in the process. He then planned to use Requiem to destroy any country on Earth which planned to oppose his Destiny Plan, beginning with Orb. Before he could fire Requiem again, the Three Ships Alliance was able to destroy Requiem and with Durandal's death, the Second Bloody Valentine War came to an end. What happened to the Daedalus bas afterwards remains unknown.
