The Dendrobium Prototype "Night Fighter" is a mobile weapon featured in the Solomon Express design series. It was designed by Makoto Kobayashi and featured in the July 1999 issue of Dengeki Hobby Magazine.

History

A concept space fighter Developed by Anaheim Electronics, this machine is more similar to a support mobile armor. The Dendrobium Night Fighter was composed of two units, a Core Fighter similar in design to the FF-X7 ; and a large mobile weapon unit, which was a modified variant of the support unit "Dendrobium Orchis." In similar fashion to the Orchis, the Core Fighter is docked with the unmanned unit, and required the piloted Core Fighter for it to function. Its main armament was a large mega beam cannon, two large claws which were fitted with large beam sabers capable of destroying enemy battleships and also mounted two weapons container pods, which could carry a variety of weapons. As with the Orchis, the Night Fighter also mounted an external I-field barrier generator, giving the it complete protection from enemy beam weapons fire. It is speculated that this unique craft easily outclassed any other space fighter in existence at the time.
