Timeline Cosmic Era

The Deuterion Beam Energy Transfer System is an energy distribution system used in the series Gundam SEED Destiny.

Technical Informations

This system is a new way of recharging the energy on an active Mobile Suit. It uses Deuterion technology to allow remote recharging of a mobile suit in moments, exponentially extending a mobile suit's effective operating time. In order to allow remote recharging both the ship and the mobile suits have to have the proper equipment. When used, a ship sends a deuterion beam to a receptor unit on a mobile suit (positioned usually on the head), which completely recharges the battery of a suit in a few seconds.

History

The Deuterion Beam Energy Transfer System is a system developed by ZAFT before the Second Bloody Valentine War. It was developed as a result of the terms specified in the Treaty of Junius, which prevents the use of nuclear technology on mobile weapons. The system was eventually installed on ZAFT's newest ship, the Minerva, which to date is the only ship capable of using this technology. The technology was also installed on ZAFT's newest Second Generation Gundam mobile suits, the ZGMF-X56S Impulse, the ZGMF-X23S Saviour, the ZGMF-X24S Chaos, the ZGMF-X31S Abyss, and the ZGMF-X88S Gaia.

The system was first used on the Impulse when the Minerva was ambushed outside of Orb. In its fight with the YMAF-X6BD Zamza-Zah the Impulse was damaged and was running critically low on power, with even its Variable Phase Shift armor deactivating. It managed to break away long enough to get close enough to the Minerva to fire a deuterion beam into the receptor unit in the Impulse's head, recharging the damaged mobile suit within seconds.

The system was never used with the stolen Chaos, Abyss, and Gaia units because the Earth Alliance did not have any ships outfitted with a deuterion chamber.
