Dodai YS is a bomber aircraft that was featured in the anime series Mobile Suit Gundam. The unit was piloted by May Kauwin.

Technology & Combat Characteristics

The Dodai YS is a bomber aircraft developed by Principality of Zeon. It was used mainly to carry a mobile suit on its back and provides additional combat support as a mobile missile platform. The Dodai YS are mostly seen being used by MS-07 Gouf and some MS-06 Zaku II which increases their mobility and fire power. Its main weapons are eight missile launchers on its front.

History

The Dodai YS was used by the Principality of Zeon during the time period known as the One Year War. It served well enough that the Principality sought to further develop its capabilities rather then completely replace it, leading to the development of the Dodai II.

After the One Year War Ended the Earth Federation would continue the idea of piloted craft that would serve as a sub-flight system for a mobile suit. By 0087 this research had accumulated in the development of the Dodai Kai and the Base Jabber, the latter of which was taken and used by Neo Zeon forces during the First Neo Zeon War.

Although it was an antiquated system, Zeon remnant forces that managed to hide out on Earth worked to maintain any Dodai YS they had in possession. These Dodai YS would be used in attacks against the Federation during UC 0096.
