The EMA-03 Gangrijo is a mass produced anti-warship mobile armor, it is featured in the manga Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam.

Technology & Combat Characteristics

Since it was designed for anti-ship combat, the Gangrijo was equipped with a powerful mega particle cannon with firepower equal to that of a battleship's mega particle cannon. The cannon was located on the left side of the main body, opposite the mono-eye sensor. For close combat and anti-mobile suit battle, the mobile armor was equipped with two large claws, giving the Gangrijo an appearance similar to a large crab. For melee combat these claws can be used to grab and crush mobile suit, and each of the claws also mounted an single beam gun for ranged combat. Lastly, the mobile armor mounted many anti-aircraft guns across its main body to defend against enemy mobile suit units that attack from above or below.

The primary weapon of the Gangrijo is the large mega particle cannon mounted in the left side of the main body. The powerful weapon is designed for combat against warships. Because of the placement of the mega particle cannon alongside the mono-eye sensor rail, and how the two features look when placed side by side, the Gangrio has been given the nickname "Wink."

History

The Gangrijo was one of several mobile armors created by the Jupiter Empire during their plans to attack Earth. The first known unit was used to attack the Crossbone Vanguard forces after luring them intro a trap above Jupiter. While a squad of EMS-10 Pez Batara mobile suits attacked the Mother Vanguard directly, the Gangrijo fought with the XM-X1 Crossbone Gundam X-1, piloted by inexperienced Tobia Arronax. Since Tobia had problems defeating the large mobile armor, Kincaido Nau launched in a replacement Core Fighter and switched it with the one inserted into the X-1, thus taking control of the suit. The more experienced Kincaido was quickly able to destroy the Gangrijo.

Multiple Gangrijo mobile armors were used to defend the military base on IO. Instead of fighting these units directly the Crossbone Vanguard launched decoys and went around.

Several months later, the Gangrijo was put into limited mass production and used to fight the Earth Federation Forces above Earth.
