The Europa (エウロパ?) is a century-old space exploration vessel that is featured in Mobile Suit Gundam 00 The Movie: A wakening of the Trailblazer.
History[]
In 2188 AD, Union launched the Europa with a team of space experts to explore the vast planet of Jupiter. Secretly, the scientists on board were members of Celestial Being, and were in a project of completing the theoretical GN Drives that Aeolia Schenberg had postulated almost a century ago. After the completion and routing of the 5 GN Drives back to Earth, a scientist killed all his colleagues on board Europa and destroyed all data pertaining the creation of GN Drives. He tried to destroy the ship, but unfortunately most of it remained intact. The disappearance of the vessel was on all of the news back on Earth, and the incident was known as the Jupiter Incident.
In 2225 AD, a search team belonging to the Corner Family found the Europa and combed the ship for information about the creation of GN Drives. They found no such data on the ship, but recovered a Purple Haro information terminal. It would give them access to information that later led to the creation of GN Drives Tau.
Plot[]
During Gundam 00 Season 1, Union Professor Ralph Eifman, in his research of Celestial Being, discovered the connection of the Europa to the creation of GN Drives. He was at the verge of learning Aeolia Schenberg's true goal in creating Celestial Being when he was assassinated by Team Trinity.
During the events of Mobile Suit Gundam 00 The Movie: A wakening of the Trailblazer, the vessel was assimilated by the ELS after their long journey to the Solar System. After assimilating the vessel, it headed towards Earth, where it was later intercepted by Innovator Descartes Shaman using the GNMA-Y0002V Gadelaza. The vessel debris didn't end up being burnt during atmospheric entry and later caused major incidents including human casualties. A same copy of the ship was later sent again by the ELS, but it was intercepted this time by the Ptolemaios Crew of Celestial Being.
