The xvt-zgc Ghirarga is a Vagan mobile suit introduced in the Kio Arc of Mobile Suit Gundam AGE. It is piloted by Zeheart Galette.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
Developed in A.G. 160s, the Ghirarga is a new X-Rounder-use mobile suit and the successor of the xvm-zgc Zeydra.[1] It is based on an experimental machine designed for commander-use and has since been modified to become Zeheart's personal unit.[2] The Ghirarga's main weapon is the handheld Ghirarga Spear, which can generate beam blades from its tips, and achieve high penetrating power through fully utilizing the mobile suit's high mobility.[2] It also has a powerful Beam Buster built into its chest, a removable Ghirarga Tail, and Beam Vulcans/Beam Sabers in its palms.[2] Additionally, through the use of the "Mode X" configuration, the Ghirarga's X-rounder compatibility is enhanced and it can utilize the "X-Transmitter" to deploy the Ghirarga bits, remote weaponry capable of performing all-range attacks.[3][4]
Armaments[]
- Ghirarga Spear
- A versatile handheld weapon, the Ghirarga Spear can generate a beam sickle from both ends, and can also be separated into two components at the middle for dual wielding. Additionally, it can fire beam shots from its tips for ranged combat.[5]
- Beam Buster
- Mounted in the chest, this powerful beam cannon's destructive power exceeds that of a standard beam rifle and can destroy a few mobile suits in one shot. It was seen to be able to match the Gundam AGE-3 Normal's SigMaxiss Rifle and Gundam AGE-FX's Stungle Rifle.
- Beam Vulcan/Beam Saber
- Mounted in both hands, the beam vulcans are the standard ranged weapon for most Vagan mobile suits. These beam weapons have a high rate of fire and are moderately powerful, capable of destroying small vehicles, buildings, and even mobile suits. The beam vulcans can also generate a beam saber each for close range combat, allowing Vagan mobile suits to switch quickly from ranged combat to close range combat. The beam sabers can easily cut through most mobile suits.
- Ghirarga Bit
- The Ghirarga Bits are all-range remote beam weaponry controlled by X-Rounder brainwaves. These bits can quickly take down an enemy mobile suit squad. Usable only when the Ghirarga is in the "Mode X" configuration.
- Ghirarga Tail
- The Ghirarga's tail functions as a striking weapon. Additionally, it can be detached for use as a handheld whip.
Special Equipment & Features[]
- X-Transmitter
- Mounted on the wings, elbows, and knees, the X-Transmitter is a special amplifier than enhances an X-Rounder's fighting potential. It also allows the mobile suit to use the Ghirarga Bits. The X-Transmitters are only activated in the Ghirarga's "Mode X".
History[]
n A.G. 164, Zeheart used the Ghiraga to lead an attack on Olivernotes on Earth, but he was stopped by Kio Asuno and Flit Asuno in AGE-3 Gundam AGE-3 Normal. Zeheart was then forced to retreat when the AGE-3 Normal sunk the Fa Zeos. Later in space, Zeheart's Ghiraga and Zanald Beihart's Xvm-zbc Xamdrag launched a pincer attack on the Diva and overwhelmed Kio's AGE-3O Gundam AGE-3 Orbital, forcing Flit to launch in his AGE-1F Gundam AGE-1 Flat to rescue his grandson. Despite Kio fleeing, Zeheart continued attacking Flit's AGE-1 Flat, hoping that Kio would come back to rescue his grandfather. As he expected, Kio was unable to abandon Flit and returned to fight. Zanald then jumped at the opportunity and captured Kio's Gundam while the Ghiraga covered their escape back to Second Moon.
After Kio was rescued by the space pirates Bisidian, the Ghiraga was sent to help defend the captured Luna Base from the Federation's attack. During the battle, Zeheart reignited his feud with his former friend, Asemu Asuno, as the Ghiraga fouight against Asemu's AGE-2DH Gundam AGE-2 Dark Hound. The pair later joined in the fight between Kio's AGE-FX Gundam AGE-FX and Flit's AGE-1G Gundam AGE-1 Glansa against Girard Spriggan's XMS-005 Thieleva and Fram Nara's Xvb-fnc Fawn Farsia. While fighting the Dark Hound, Zeheart grew increasingly concerned over Girard as she began to overuse her X-Rounder abilities. These fears came true when Girard finally went berserk, took control of all the bits and funnels in the area, including the Ghiraga's, and turn them against their original users.
While struggling to deal with his own bits, Zeheart and his Ghirarga were unwillingly used as a shield by the Thieleva to block an attack by the Dark Hound. The fight ended with the AGE-1 Glansa shooting the Thieleva from above, destroying the mobile suit. Meanwhile, the Federation won the battle over the Luna Base when they threatened to use the Plasma Diver Missile. The damaged Ghiraga retreated with help from the Fawn Farsia. It was then changed into the xvt-rlc Ghirarga Custom for Leil Light, while Zeheart switched to the Xvm-fzc Gundam Legilis.

- Like the Zeydra, the Ghirarga's colors and speed mirrors the mobile suits used by ace pilot Char Aznable of the Universal Century timeline.
- The Ghirarga is the first mobile suit in animation to use remote weapons without a physical chassis.
