Arnold Neumann (アーノルド・ノイマン) is a character introduced in the anime Mobile Suit Gundam SEED. He reappeared in the sequel series Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny.

Quiet and professional, he's usually overshadowed by his charismatic superiors.
Skills & Abilities[]
Arnold is a very capable soldier with good judgment and execution skills and often serves as a coordinator for the bridge crew. His steering skills are outstanding, and he is able to successfully complete almost 100% of the evasion orders given by the captain. When the Archangel was attacked on the underside of the hull by an enemy MS on the surface of the sea, in order to secure the firing line of the main gun, he made the Archangel, which is more than 400 meters long, do a barrel roll under gravity.
Even after two years, his steering skills are still alive and well, as he was able to avoid an attack by Minerva that suddenly appeared from the front by rolling the ship 90 degrees. His capabilities are one of the contributors to the Archangel being called the "unsinkable ship".

First Alliance-PLANT War[]
He was one of the few regular crew members of the Archangel who survived ZAFT's G-weapon theft at Heliopolis. After regrouping with the rest of the remaining crew, he became the ship's helmsman.[1] His rank on the bridge was third only to Captain Murrue Ramius and First Officer Natarle Badgiruel.
Arnold continued to serve with the Archangel during its journey to Earth Alliance Headquarters, JOSH-A, located on Earth. When it was revealed that the Atlantic Federation officers left the ship to be destroyed, he and the rest of the crew abandoned the EA. Arnold remained with the Archangel until the end of the war, becoming a member of the Three Ships Alliance. After the war, Arnold and the rest of the ship's crew took up aliases and began living in the Orb Union.
Second Alliance-PLANT War[]
In C.E. 73, with the Second Alliance-PLANT War beginning and the Orb Union choosing to join the Earth Alliance, Arnold returned to the Archangel, having received a message from Kira Yamato and Murrue, and became the ship's helmsman again. Arnold was given the rank of Ensign when the ship officially join the Orb Union Space Fleet later during the war. After the Battle of Orb, he was promoted to Lieutenant along with various members of the Archangel.[2] After the war, he returned to live in Orb.
