Mikhail Coast (ミハイル・コースト?) is a character introduced in the side story Mobile Suit Gundam SEED MSV.
Personality & Character[]
Originally a physician, Mikhail studied medicine not for saving patients, but to satisfy his curiosity about the human body, He always put his own interests as the highest priority and distrusted others.[1] Mikhail has no interest in social or political matters, and joined ZAFT because he was interested in war. He treats battles like the progression of a disease and likes to speak with medical terms during battles, such as referring to the enemies as "tumors" that need to be removed through operations.[1]

An exceptional pilot, Mikail uses his observation skills and mobility to control his mobile suit like a doctor uses scalpels. His combat prowess resulted in him being referred to as "The Doctor".[1]

Mikhail Coast was a physician before joining ZAFT but decided to leave medicine behind to fight on the battlefield.[1]
In mid-C.E. 71, Mikhail led a top-secret mission to recapture the nuclear mobile suit, Dreadnought Gundam. Eventually locating it in the possession of the Junk Guild, Mikail ordered them to surrender but ended up fighting the Dreadnought and Junk Gild mobile suits.[2] During the battle, his team was attacked by Canard Pars in his Hyperion Gundam. After deploying his six Moebius mobile armors, Canard assaulted Mikhail's team, heavily damaging their mobile suits before his Moebius unit finished them off. After his Laurasia-class frigate was destroyed, Mikhail was the only member of his entire team to survive and was forced to abandon the battle. During his retreat, Mikail lamented the failure but was comforted that since it was a secret mission, news of his loss wouldn't spread.[3]
Mikhail piloted two ZGMF-1017M GINN High Maneuver Type units during the First Alliance-PLANT War. His first unit was captured by the mercenary group Serpent Tail after being lured into a trap. Afterward, Mikhail received a second unit as a replacement, which he used to battle Morgan Chevalier's GAT-01A1+AQM/E-X04 Gunbarrel Dagger during the Battle of Boaz.[4] Mikhail later participated in the last battle of the war, the Second Battle of Jachin Due, where he fought against Edward Harrelson, aka Ed the Ripper, in his GAT-X133 Sword Calamity, and was seriously wounded.[5]
Following the war, Mikhail transferred to a ZAFT base in South Africa. There, Jess Rabble brought a severely injured Edward Harrelson to him for treatment. In C.E. 73, Mikhail came to honor his doctor code and piloted a ZGMF-1000 Hospital ZAKU Warrior to help the injured in the aftermath of the "Break The World" Incident. Later, Mikhail was transferred to Lagash Base, ZAFT's secret underwater facility, where he treated the Martian Ergnes Brahe following his battle against Phantom Pain.[6]
