The GN-001REIII Gundam Exia Repair III (aka Gundam Exia Repair III, Exia Repair III, Repair III, Exia R3) is the repaired and upgraded version of the GN-001REII Gundam Exia Repair II introduced in Mobile Suit Gundam 00V: Battlefield Record. It is piloted by Setsuna F. Seiei.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
After defeating the Innovades who falsely claimed to be Innovators, Celestial Being continued to exist as a deterrent force for the world, but it avoided conspicuous armed interventions as much as possible.[1][2][3][4] This is because armed interventions using the Gundams have taken on a greater meaning, and might even trigger unwanted military expansion.[2][5][6] Thus, Celestial Being now intervenes only when the Earth Sphere Federation government could not manage the situation, and actively uses mobile suits other than Gundams, but the use of Gundams is unavoidable for some missions.[2][3][5][6] The GN-001REIII Gundam Exia Repair III is an improved version of the GN-001REII Gundam Exia Repair II that was damaged during the final battle with the Innovades, making it the third renovated form of the Gundam Exia.[1][2][3] To suit Celestial Being's covert operations, a GN Long Rifle is mounted on the left forearm of the Exia Repair III for sniping enemies from a long distance without exposing the Gundam itself to the enemy forces.[2][3][6] This characteristic distinguishes the GN Long Rifle from the melee combat-focused weapons used by previous forms of Gundam Exia.[2][3] As a result, Exia Repair III transitioned from its predecessors' specialization in melee combat to a mobile suit capable of both sniping and melee combat.[2][3]
Celestial Being lost three GN Drives during the final battle with the Innovades[3][7][8], so Exia Repair III adopted a particle storage tank, also known as large GN Condenser or simply GN Condenser, as its power source.[2][3][9][10] Additionally, GN Condensers were built into the enlarged shoulder and knee armor to boost the supply of GN Particles, and thrusters located in various parts of the body were changed to the latest model, making it possible for Exia Repair III to engage in high mobility combat and accelerate efficiently using fewer particles.[2][3] Therefore, even if Exia Repair III is unable to accomplish its mission with long-range shooting, it can quickly close the distance and fight the enemies in melee combat.[2][6] The Exia Repair III is one of two Gundams on standby for Setsuna F. Seiei's use while his new GNT-0000 00 Qan[T] is under construction, the other Gundam is the refurbished GN-0000 00 Gundam, which can be deployed as either the GN-0000RE+GNR-010 00 Raiser GN Condenser Type or the GN-0000GNHW/7SG 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G.[2][6][9][11] The Exia Repair III is stationed on Earth and the 00 stationed in space, this arrangement is because Earth Sphere Federation's strict monitoring and full control of the Orbital Elevators made it impossible to transport the Gundams between Earth and space.[2][3][5][12]
Armaments[]
- GN Long Rifle
- A large, long-range beam firearm mounted on the left forearm of the GN-001REIII Gundam Exia Repair III.[2][3] The GN Long Rifle enables Exia Repair III to snipe enemies from a long distance without exposing the Gundam itself to enemy forces, making this weapon significantly different from the melee combat-focused weapons used by the previous forms of Gundam Exia.[2][3][6] The use of GN Long Rifle fits the Celestial Being's new preference for conducting armed intervention covertly.[2][3][5] The barrel of the GN Long Rifle is folded when not in use.[2][3] This folding mechanism also ensure the large weapon does not become a hinderance during melee combat.[2][3] The GN Long Rifle cannot be discarded during melee combat as it contained unique technology developed by Celestial Being.[2][3]
- GN Sword Kai
- Mounted on the Exia Repair III's right forearm, this is the same weapon as used by the GN-001REII Gundam Exia Repair II.[2][3][13] The blade of the GN Sword Kai is made from the same material as the GN-0000+GNR-010 00 Raiser's GN Sword III, granting it excellent strength and sharpness.[3][13] The GN Sword Kai can switch from Sword Mode to Rifle Mode by folding its blade, revealing the muzzle to fire beams for ranged attacks. [1][3][13]
- GN Beam Saber
- Two GN Beam Sabers were stored on rotatable mounts on the hips of the Exia Repair II, and these melee weapons were retained in the Exia Repair III.[1][2][3][13] The GN Beam Saber emits a beam blade made of GN Particles from its hilt when drawn.[1][13] It can also function as a GN Beam Dagger.[3][13]
- GN Vulcan
- Like Exia Repair II, Exia Repair III has a pair of GN Vulcans built into its forearms.[2][3][13] These small beam guns have low firepower, but their beams can be rapid-fired intermittently and they are effective in restricting enemy movements, damaging conventional weapons without E-Carbon armor, etc.[13]
Special Equipment & Features[]
- A special system that when activated would fully release all of the compressed high-density GN Particles accumulated in the Gundam, enhancing its mobility and defensive capabilities as well as allowing it to perform at three times its normal output for a limited time.[3][14][15][16] Additionally, the entire Gundam appeared red and afterimages were generated when moving.[3][14][15][16] Unfortunately, the Trans-Am System is a double-edged sword, as once it ended, the Gundam's performance would drop as all its GN Particles were used up.[3][8][14][16] The Trans-Am System was originally limited to Gundams powered by GN Drive, but it was later made available to Gundams powered by large GN Condenser.[7][8][9][17] This was thanks to the improved GN Condenser developed by Sherilyn Hyde after the final battle with the Innovades who falsely claimed to be Innovators.[5][18][17] As such, it is likely that the large GN Condenser-powered Exia Repair III could use Trans-Am System when required.
- The Celestial Being regained linkage with the quantum processing system Veda near the end of the battle with the Innovades, and resumed usage of the system in its operations after that.[1][18][19][20] Presumably, the Veda-linked operating system of the Gundams was also restored, enabling the quantum processing system to provide support to the Gundams and its pilots.

Mobile Suit Gundam 00V: Battlefield Record Mission 018 "Fight for Dialogue"[]
Sumeragi Lee Noriega explains the mission to Setsuna F. Seiei and Lockon Stratos. An Earth Sphere Federation research institute on Earth is secretly reviving the Super Soldier project. Notably, they are trying to create Super Soldiers by forcibly awakening Innovator-related factors. In a sense, these Super Soldiers can be described as artificial Innovators. The project is highly feasible as there are many commonalities between Super Soldiers and Innovators. Currently, a small number of people in the world have awakened as Innovators. The research institute forcibly gathered and experimented on people with such "talents" and those who have the Innovator factors. Celestial Being cannot turn a blind eye to the use of people with the "Dialogue" ability as tools of war.
After hearing Sumeragi's explanation, Lockon notes that Allelujah Haptism would have wanted to the join the mission if he is still here. Setsuna then volunteers for the mission, and Lockon agrees as Setsuna is an Innovator himself. With a smile, Sumeragi informs Setsuna that the GN-001REIII Gundam Exia Repair III is ready for his use. Sumeragi had anticipated that Setsuna would be executing the mission, so she had Ian Vashti prepared the Exia Repair III beforehand. Upon arriving at the sniping point as indicated by Sumeragi, Setsuna deploys the targeting scope and fires the Exia Repair III's GN Long Rifle. A particle beam shoots out from the weapon, but it only flies close to the edge of the buildings of the research institute, and did not hit any.
The defending mobile suits immediately launch and head for the Gundam's location, but Setsuna is unfazed as it is all going according to plan. A few minutes later, alarms sounded as chaos erupted in the research institute. The people with Innovator factors have begun their escape. Setsuna is not surprised by this turn of events. He had infused the particle beam fired earlier with a telepathic message containing information about his mission. The particle beam is composed of GN Particles, so it can be used as a medium for quantum brainwaves communication. Naturally, the sender and receiver of the telepathic message must have quantum brainwaves. In other words, Setsuna's earlier beam shot was for communication, and the people with Innovator factors within the institute successfully received his message and acted accordingly.
The Exia Repair III stands up as the mission entered phase two, and its GN Long Rifle folds in half as Setsuna prepares for melee combat. The Gundam then charges towards the enemy mobile suits - 12 GNX-609T GN-XIIIs. To buy time for those with Innovator factors to escape and increase their chance of survival, Setsuna has to keep the enemy mobile suits occupied for a while longer. Knowing the enemies are no match for him and his beloved Gundam, Setsuna unfolds the blade of the GN Sword Kai and calmy cleaves apart the first GN-XIII that approaches him.
ELS Conflict[]
Later, during the ELS Conflict, Setsuna was said to have used Exia to land on Earth.[21] Presumably, this referred to the Exia Repair III.
