The FA-78NT-1 Full Armor Alex (aka FA-78NT-1 Full Armor Gundam NT-1) was a variant of the RX-78NT-1 Gundam NT-1 introduced in Mobile Suit Gundam 0080 MSV. It later appeared in Mobile Suit Gundam Katana.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
This machine is the Gundam NT-1 equipped with armament and additional armor similar to the Full Armor Gundam as a draft "FSWS Plan". However, the Full Armor Gundam's missile bays in the knees and the auxiliary propulsion units on the side of the legs have been omitted in the Full Armor Alex. This set of equipment was designed simultaneously with the Gundam NT-1's Chobam Armor.
Armaments[]
- 60mm Vulcan Gun
- A pair of shell-firing weapon built into the head. Though not powerful, its high rate of fire meant it was employed to intercept incoming missiles, etc.
- 360mm Rocket Cannon
- A large rocket-firing cannon that is mounted on the right side of the backpack, and on the left is a targeting device.
- Missile Bay
- Built into the additional armor on the chest.
- 90mm Gatling Gun
- Armament stored in the covers of both forearms. Cannot be used when equipped with the additional armor.
- Twin Beam Cannon
- A double-barreled armament equipped on the right forearm, it is also known as "Twin Beam Rifle".
- Shield
- A small, simplified shield that is integrated with the additional armor on the left forearm.
- Beam Saber
- A beam weapon for close combat. A pair are stored on the backpack of the Gundam NT-1, and they are relocated to the rear skirt armor of the Full Armor Alex as additional equipment is mounted on the backpack.
History[]
This machine was conceived as an insurance policy in case the development of the Chobam Armor failed, but it was never manufactured as the Chobam Armor achieved a certain level of success and because the Alex was badly damaged.
In U.C. 0084, the True Federal reproduced a Full Armor Alex. It was piloted by the Cyber Newtype Kotetsu, who was able to draw out all of the Gundam's potential. Because of this, the Full Armor Alex proved to be extremely agile despite its heavy equipment. After Kotetsu defected to BGST, the Full Armor Alex was modified into the RX-78NT-X NT-X by Dr. Henry, a former Flanagan Institute researcher, based on data provided by his colleague in the Murasame Lab.
