The RGM-79FP-S1 GM Striker EX <Metal Spider> is a mobile suit from the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Blazing Shadow light novel.

Technology & Combat Characteristics

The GM Striker EX <Metal Spider> is a close combat mobile suit based on the RGM-79FP GM Striker. It was developed at the Gymnasion II space colony and deployed by Team 6 of the Shadows special forces unit. The GM Striker's wearable armor has been removed, resulting in high acceleration at the expense of decreased ballistic resistance. Each unit is customized to suit its pilot. The "Metal Spider" nickname is derived from the mobile suit's head-mounted thermal vision goggles.

• Vulcan Pod

To accommodate the thermal vision goggles, the standard twin vulcan guns used on most Earth Federation Forces mobile suits have been replaced with a single vulcan pod mounted on the right side of the head.

• Beam Saber

The GM Striker EX <Metal Spider> is equipped with the same type of beam saber as the one used by the GM Type C. A single beam saber is stored on the right side of the backpack

• YHI 1GL-84SB Grenade Launcher Anchor

The grenade launcher anchor is stored on the left side skirt armor.

• AE/ZIM.HK Type-4 Heat Knife

The GM Striker EX <Metal Spider> carries a single heat knife that can be stored on its right side skirt armor, on its right shin, or on the back of its waist depending on the preference of the pilot.

• YHI RAQ-SS-Wp Sashot Anchor

A wired striking weapon that applies hand anchor technology and is mounted on the left arm. The weapon fires a heat anchor shaped like a pile bunker which it can manipulate it in all directions, enabling the same flexibility as a heat rod.

• BOWA BR-M-84H-H-4 Type Beam Rifle

A specialized beam rifle with an output that can be reduced to a certain limit by the mobile suit. Prioritizing maneuverability, it features both high firepower and rate of fire that can defeat even heavy mobile suits.

Special Equipment & Features

• Thermal Vision Goggles

Also known as SVG, the thermal vision goggles are a heat sensing system developed using the technology tested by the Principality of Zeon's Midnight Fenrir Corps. The goggles lower down in front of the mobile suit's visor when in use.
