Gopp (ゴップ Goppu?) is a character from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin, its OVA adaptation and subsequent television recut. He also features prominently in the movie Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island.
Gopp is the Chairman of the so-called Earth Federation Forces Joint Chiefs of Staff in the lead-up to the One Year War. He holds the rank of General. When Dr. Minovsky defected to the Earth Federation, he dispatched his apprentice Tem Ray to the Moon. Sensing Zeon's preparations for war, Gopp planned and executed the relocation of the Federation Forces General Headquarters to Jaburo. He also understands Tem's RX-78 plan, and gives him the necessary support to begin development of a new mobile weapon at a secret factory in Side 7.
During the war, Gopp is General of the Army, with oversight of the Federation's ground and naval forces. He leads the La Grandpa fleet in negotiations with General M'Quve in order to capture Gibraltar. The White Base Corps is placed under his command in advance of the attack on Odessa.
Admiral Gopp would take charge of the Federation fleet following the death of Admiral Revil and supervises the ceasefire treaty between the Earth Federation Forces and the Principality of Zeon that ends the One Year War.
