The UM-190B.I Gussa is a man-machine used by the Federation’s Man Hunters. It appears in the novel and Radio Drama Gaia Gear.

Technology & Combat Characteristics[]

The UM-190B.I Gussa is a high-end mass-production type model of man machine that serves as the Man Hunting Attachment's primary workhorse unit. It shares much in common with Earth Federation mobile suits of the previous generation; with it's somewhat limited and streamlined weapons loadout and equipment options. One of it's benefits is the ability to be mounted with optional pieces of enhanced maneuvering equipment; such as it's Minovsky drive and long drive units.

Armaments[]

  • Sand barrel

Much like many Man Machine's of this era. The Gussa can be equipped with an optional "Sand Barrel"; which is an airburst anti-missile/anti-funnel grenade launcher that is designed to disable remote weapons.

  • Beam saber

Located just under the forearms in a underside compartment; the Gussa's beam sabers can slide out from the inner wrists of the man machine. Allowing for quick access in hand-to-hand combat situations.

  • Beam rifle

Mounted to the Gussa's right arm. The Beam rifle serves as the Gussa's primary anti-man-machine weapon; allowing it to destroy targets with both effectiveness and destructive brutality.

  • Shield

Mounted to the Gussa's left arm, the Gussa's shield serves a dual purpose in combat; one, granting the suit a modicum of protection and two, serving as the location of the unit's beam cutter.

  • Beam cutter

Incorperated into the Gussa's shield, the triangular extension on the end of the shield is where this weapon is concealed. When the beam cutter is activated, the top of the shield rotates and splits in half; allowing the Gussa's shield to act a large pair of, scissor-like beam blades.

  • Mega Beam Launcher

Exclusive to Gussa units equipped with the "Long Drive Unit". The Gussa has access to two mega beam launchers that are mounted to the long drive unit's backside. These weapons increase the overall level of firepower for the Gussa itself; allowing the unit to properly engage in combat with enemy warships.

Special Equipment & Features[]

  • Long Drive Unit

The Gussa's Long Drive Unit is a piece of equipment designed for long-distance travel through space, with additional thrusters and boosters added to it. The unit itself is also the location where the unit's two mega beam launchers are located. The unit is meant to be intended to be used similarly to that of the RGM-79KC GM Intercept Custom's fellowbooster unit, for long distance warship and cruiser interception.

  • Minovsky Drive Unit

Using technology that was first pioneered over one-hundred years prior (in the forms of mobile suits like the RX-104FF Penelope and RX-105 Ξ Gundam, the Gussa's Minovsky Drive Unit acts as an enhanced atmospheric flight unit. The unit using Minovsky particles in conjunction with the unit's own I-field generator to allow for long-distance flight.

History[]

The UM-190B.I Gussa was favored by man machine pilots early into the Manhunter's conflict with the forces of Metatron, and would see substantial improvements in the form of the UM-190B.II Gussa Improved Performance Type but would later be phased out for the slightly more advanced and much more powerful Bromb Texter Production Type. The unit would see limited use throughout the later stages of the conflict, but would usually be outperformed by the Metatron's own mass-production man machine units.
