The MS-07H-4 Gouf Flight Test Type is a mobile suit from the series MSV.

Technology & Combat Characteristics[]

A prototype mobile suit developed by the Zeonic Company, it is a modified version of the MS-07H Gouf Flight Test Type unit 4. The engines in the legs have been replaced with newer models, and ventral fins have been added to the waist. The spike armor on both shoulders has been removed and replaced with winged armor. These improvements extended its flight time and gave it good maneuverability, but the engines were difficult to adjust.

Armaments[]

  • 5-barrel 75mm Machine Gun
Machine guns built into the fingers of the manipulators on both arms.
  • 180mm Rocket Cannon
Two rocket cannons are mounted on the side of each leg.

History[]

After four weeks, test-flight accidents left only one Gouf Flight Type functional. This unit was then given various modifications to improve its performance, and assigned a new model number, MS-07H-4, to reflect the changes in design. However, on its tenth day of flight testing, the Gouf Flight Test Type experienced massive engine failure and exploded in mid-air, killing test pilot Frank Bernard. Following the accident, Zeon's official flight-type mobile suit development programs were all immediately cancelled.

However, despite official cancellations, a few clandestine and unofficial programs were still underway to create a mobile suit capable of atmospheric flight. One of these programs eventually created the MS-07H-8 Gouf Flight Type, a relative success compared to the earlier models of flight-capable Goufs.
