Rena Imelia (レナ・イメリア Rena Imeria?) is a character introduced in the side story Mobile Suit Gundam SEED MSV. She reappeared in the manga Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny Astray.

Rena is a woman of many mysteries; all that is certain is that she is ruthless and shows no mercy towards her enemies.

Although she is a Natural, Rena possesses superb piloting abilities that are said to be above that of most Coordinator's. Though unconfirmed it is suspected that she would be capable of piloting a mobile suit using a Coordinator-compatible OS.

First Alliance-PLANT War[]
During the First Alliance-PLANT War, Rena was a Lieutenant in the OMNI Enforcer and initially served as an instructor for pilots. Among her student were the five soldiers who were chosen as pilots for the EA's G Project Gundams. However, when all five were killed during the Battle of Heliopolis, Rena decided to take matters into her own hands and became a pilot herself.[1] In C.E. 71, she went on to become an ace mobile suit pilot, nickname "Sakura Burst", referring to both her combat style in the GAT/A-01E2 Buster Dagger and to a burn scar on her right shoulder. In addition to the Buster Dagger, Rena also piloted a GAT-01D1 Duel Dagger, and a GAT-X133 Sword Calamity, and took part in the Ayers Rock Landing Operation during Operation 8.8 and at the Second Battle of Jachin Due, where her Buster Dagger was disabled in combat against Kira Yamato's ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam.
South American War for Independence[]
After the end of hostilities during the First Alliance-PLANT War, Rena was one of three ace pilots assigned to take down the traitor Edward Harrelson who was leading the United States of South America in a revolt against Atlantic Federation rule. Rena was the third pilot to engage Edward, dueling with him in a Sword Calamity mobile suit just like Edward favored. At first, it appeared that she would win due to how she made use of all of the Sword Calamity's weapons and not just the melee weapons as Edward did. However, Ed was able to engage Rena's unit in close combat and severely cripple the mobile suit. Rena was defeated, alive but injured. Being a chivalrous man Edward immediately went to check on her. However, Rena used his momentarily lowered guard to shoot Edward, intending to kill him but only managed to wound him.[2] Both of them were taken to a nearby ZAFT medical facility where they were treated and survived their injuries.[3]
