Fred Reber (フレッド·リーバー, Fureddo Rībā) is a fictional character from the Mobile Suit Gundam Side Story: Missing Link video games. He's a member of the Earth Federation Forces's mobile suit corps, Slave Wraith. He primarily piloted the RX-78XX Gundam Pixy during the One Year War and later piloted the MS-08TX/S Efreet Schneid in U.C. 0096 after he defected to the Zeon Remnants.
History[]
After being arrested for the murder of his superior officer, he becomes a member of Slave Wraith. He is extremely belligerent and specializes in hand-to-hand combat. When they begin to fight together, he trusts Doug Schneid as "a man to whom he can entrust his back," and wishes to witness his way of life, and enlists Doug to help him and his teammates escape from Grave's pursuers. After that, he hides in the Fiji Islands with the Zeon remnant army. He collaborates with a sleeper cell in New Guinea, and repeatedly commits acts of piracy, targeting federal convoys. He has inherited the Efreet left behind by Doug and continues to maintain it with improvements, hoping to find his fulfillment in battle.
In the manga version, Travis Kirkland and his team help stop Grave's plan by destroying HADES' top-secret research facility at the same time as Grave's assassination. After the end of the One Year War, he makes a name for himself as an ace in the Zeon remnant unit, and after welcoming Chloe Croce and Edward Lee/Hire, he stops the Federation unit from targeting them, and sends Chloe and the others to the old HADES research facility where Travis and the others are waiting.
In U.C. 0096, he also receives contact from Doris Brand/Diver for the first time in a long time. With information from Yonem Kirks about a massive Federation transport operation from Dakar to Adelaide, he ambushes and raids a fleet of ships in the Marshall Islands, where they are making a port call. At this time, he named his machine "Efreet Schneid". After the annihilation, he receives news of a large-scale operation from the Simbu Base Corps and joins up with them.
