Combat Abilities
The armament of the Forbidden Vortex is exactly the same as the one used on the prototype GAT-X255 Forbidden Blue. The weaponry includes a phonon maser cannon, torpedo launchers, CIWS guns and machine guns for ranged combat, while spikes and a trident are used for close combat.
System Features
Not only the weaponry of the Forbidden Blue was carried over to the Forbidden Vortex, also all special equipments of the prototype unit are inherited by the new suit. This includes the Trans-Phase armor, the "Geschmeidig Panzer" energy deflection armor and the large number of sensors. The only difference between the two suits is the reinforced titanium shell that protects the cockpit, if the Geschmeidig Panzer would fail, a fatal design flaw of the Forbidden Blue. The titanium shell was a feature already included in the GAT-706S Deep Forbidden.
History
After the Earth Alliance had created two underwater use mobile suits designed after the original GAT-X252 Forbidden, it eventually created a third variant, which was visually indistinguishable from the Forbidden Blue. Some times before CE 74, the suit entered mass production, with an unknown number of units produced.
During the Second Bloody Valentine War, at least four Forbidden Vortexes were deployed in the defense of Heaven's Base, the last military stringhold on Earth under control of Logos.
