The GN-006/SA Cherudim Gundam SAGA (aka Cherudim Gundam SAGA, Cherudim SAGA, Cherudim, Gundam of Seven Guns), is Cherudim Gundam loaded with customized arm package called SAGA. SAGA is an abbreviation for Special Assault Gundam Arms. It first appeared in Mobile Suit Gundam 00V, and again in Mobile Suit Gundam 00I 2314 piloted by Leo Sieg. It's also appeared in Gundam EX A and piloted by Lockon Stratos (Lyle Dylandy).
+
The GN-006/SA Cherudim Gundam SAGA (aka Cherudim Gundam SAGA, Cherudim SAGA, Seven Guns) is a variant of the GN-006 Cherudim Gundam introduced in Mobile Suit Gundam 00V. Known pilots include Lockon Stratos and Leo Sieg.

The GN-006/SA Cherudim Gundam SAGA (Special Assault Gundam Arms), also known simply as Cherudim SAGA, is a special equipment version of the GN-006 Cherudim Gundam designed for infiltrating enemy facilities. For effective combat within the narrow confines of these facilities, the mobile suit mainly uses short-barreled guns, and carries a total of seven such guns throughout its body. Ian Vashti, designer of Cherudim SAGA, gave it seven guns as he was conscious of GN-001 Gundam Exia's development code of "Seven Swords", and this also led to the mobile suit having the development code of "Seven Guns". While the original Cherudim specialized in long-range shooting, Cherudim SAGA was designed for mid-to-close range combat and its forehead sensor was modified accordingly. In Sniper mode, this sensor would slide down diagonally to around the eye level. Despite these changes, Cherudim SAGA retained the original Cherudim's long-range capabilities. Thus, it maintains the basic strategy of the Cherudim, which is to target and shoot enemies from a distance.
While the GN-006 Cherudim Gundam excelled in long-range combat and featured enhanced close-quarters-combat capabilities over its predecessor (GN-002 Gundam Dynames), the unit lacked greater combat effectiveness in CQC. Cherudim is inefficient in closed terrains like jungles, caverns, etc. To that end, Celestial Being developed the Special Assault Gundam Arms (SAGA) equipment, to compensate Cherudim's deficiencies; while similar in appearance, its capabilities are different from the original.

  +
For defense, Cherudim SAGA was equipped with an easy-to-use GN Small Shield. This shield replaced the original Cherudim's GN Shield Bits, which were removed due to being unsuitable for use in narrow spaces. Additionally, a GN Missile Container covers and protects the mobile suit's rear waist-mounted GN Drive in place of the GN Shield Bits, and extra armor was mounted on the left and right sides of the drive. Changes were also made to the mobile suit's chest section, with additional armor installed and a sensor added to the left chest. This chest-mounted sensor is reminiscent to that of the GNY-002 Gundam Sadalsuud, and is thought to improve the accuracy in gathering information. Overall, the new parts used in changing the Cherudim to the Cherudim SAGA were kept to a minimum, with the majority being guns. The Cherudim SAGA's total weight is also reduced compared to the Cherudim's, and this is due to the abolishment of the GN Shield Bits. The change in color scheme, from the Cherudim's green to the black of the Cherudim SAGA, seems to be achieved through the programming of the nanomachines responsible for the mobile suit's colors.
For weapons and defense, the majority of Cherudim’s armor and weapons had been replaced with lighter and compact equipment for its specialized role. The color of its armor uses darker shades of green. While the GN Shield Bits offered great defensive/offensive applications in open-field combat, the bits affect Cherudim’s mobility and speed in tight spaces; Celestial Being engineers replaced the Shield Bits with stationary armor plating. In addition, the various parts of its armor plating was re-fitted with a different-but-similar-in-appearance armor; suggestively to help increase mobility for Cherudim.

After the final battle with the A-Laws and the Innovators, the heavily damaged Cherudim was rebuilt as Cherudim SAGA by Sherilyn Hyde, Ian's disciple, and assigned to the Fereshte. With the primary Ptolemaios Team unable to move freely and their new Gundams still under development, the Fereshte, a support team that was disbanded, was re-established as a second team to conduct some of the armed interventions. The Cherudim SAGA was one of two main Gundams deployed by Fereshte, and since there was no GN Drive to spare, both mobile suits were powered by particle storage tank, also known as large GN Condenser. Additionally, Cherudim SAGA's overall performance was slightly degraded compared to the original Cherudim, and this was a result of it being built from the remains of the wrecked Cherudim. As the Earth Sphere Federation had full control of the Orbital Elevators, Fereshte faced difficulties in moving large objects, such as mobile suits, between earth and space. Thus, Fereshte stationed its Gundams in difference places, with Cherudim SAGA situated in space and used exclusively for space-based missions.
Among the changes on its armor and armaments, the Shield Bits stored on the left shoulder has been replaced with a GN Small Shield. The knee impact-points for the Shield Bits now carry two GN Submachine Guns, one on each knee hardpoint, which shows similarities to the GN Sniper Rifle II, however, the guns have no secondary feature. The removal of the Shield Bits also exposed the GN Drive on the rear skirt; to counter this, Celestial Being engineers added thick armor plating around the Drive, as well as adding a GN Missile Container at its rear for rapid countermeasures and defense. Replacing the GN Sniper Rifle on the right shoulder is a single GN Assault Carbine, a modified version of the GN Sniper Rifle II with a shortened barrel; unlike its original gun, the rifle also doesn't have a secondary functions. The only equipments remain unchanged are its GN Pistol IIs (mounted on the sides of its GN Thrusters) and skirt-mounted GN Missiles on the torso; a pair of GN Pistols similar to the one Dynames used were added to the sides of its waist (it was never explained why Celestial Being would utilized such antiquated GN weaponry) for added firepower.

In terms of systems, the sensor unit on Cherudim's head had been modified so that the forehead targeting scope simply slides down over Cherudim's optics, an inherited design from Dynames’s targeting system. To increase Cherudim’s sensor capabilities in closed-in areas, a secondary sensor unit was included on its SAGA armor (left side chest). The changes would minimize Cherudim’s need for external sensor assistance and allow it to detect potential targets ahead of the enemy. When challenged beyond what Cherudim could normally do, its pilot can activate the Trans-Am System to increase 3x Cherudim’s combat capabilities; however, an unclear ability is its Holographic Sniping System and whether that was retained for the SAGA. Overall, the SAGA system gave Cherudim a means to adapt to special combat conditions, extending the range of its capabilities and longevity with Celestial Being.

;*GN Assault Carbine
  +
:Cherudim SAGA's main weapon, this special mission gun is a short barrel version of the GN-006 Cherudim Gundam's GN Sniper Rifle II. The GN Assault Carbine maintains a high accuracy and is suitable for mid-range sniping mission. It can be stored on the right shoulder when not in use.
:Cherudim contains a pair of obsolesce 1st Generation GN Beam Pistols which are also used by GN-002 Gundam Dynames. While they have a high rate of fire, they possess less power than standard GN Beam Rifles. When not in use, they are stored at the side skirts of the Cherudim.

:A beam machine gun with the same level of ability as the GN Sniper Rifle II's triple Vulcan mode and designed to be used in the same way as well. The GN Submachine Gun can spray a hail of beams over a wide area, and has excellent suppression power. Two of these guns are stored on dedicated holders on the Cherudim SAGA's knees.
:The beam pistols are located at the upper back of Cherudim, right above the verniers with the pistol handles extended to look like a pair of beam sabers mounted. The pair doubles as both a short-range particle beam gun and a hand-held axe. The blade of the weapons have anti-beam coating to fight or defend against beam saber attacks. It's unclear if the axes are infused with GN particles like a GN blade.

:Like the original Cherudim, Cherudim SAGA carries two of this close-range use firearms, one on each side of its backpack. Despite having low firepower due to their small size, these pistols were shown to be capable of destroying enemy mobile suit in certain situations.G00G00 They are also easy to handle and have excellent rapid-fire performance. Furthermore, they could be used for melee combat as the bottom section of each pistol's barrel was coated with a beam resistant coating, enabling them to block/parry enemy's GN Beam Saber, as well as physical blade, such as the GNZ-007 Gaddess's GN Heat Saber and GNW-20000 Arche Gundam's GN Buster Sword.G00G00
:Similar to the Cherudim, missile pods are located in the front armored skirt of the Cheridim SAGA. The four plates will fold outwards to reveal a pair of GN Missiles (2 in each pod, with a total of 8 missiles). The missiles are meant for short to mid-range use.

:When activated Trans-Am System, the GN Drive maximizes its GN particle output which grants Cherudim Gundam SAGA three times the strength, speed, and firepower. Condensed GN particles saturate the MS frame, giving it a pink-reddish hue.

About a month had passed since Amy Zimbalist caused a major incident that shook the world. Despite his great record on the battlefield, Amy was also involved in several incidents, including women related ones, that brought shame on the Earth Sphere Federation Forces (ESF Forces). Instead of a demotion, Amy was transferred to a remote, asteroid base as punishment. Amy disliked this base. It was not only boring, but most importantly, there were very few female personnel. It was not hard to see why the ESF Forces had Amy was sent here. Amy wished for the base to be attacked by enemy forces, so that he could launch in his mobile suit and vent his frustrations in battle.
Amy Zimbalist faced Cherudim Gundam SAGA with his GNX-604T Advanced GN-X when the base he was in was attacked by the former. As the narrow passageways in the base didn't allow him to use his MS to its maximum potential, he decided to intercept the enemy outside the base. Amy attacked Cherudim SAGA as it left the base, and as expected, it could only fire a few shots before its rifle ran out of ammo. He thought that it was his chance, but before he could attack, a new gun had appeared in the enemy's hand. This repeated several times, causing Amy to shout in frustration, "That's cheating! How much darn equipment does it have!" Amy's MS soon reached its pseudo-solar furnace action time limit, and Cherudim SAGA then quietly left.

Several hours later, Amy deeply regretted his wish as the base came under attack by the worst enemy – a Gundam. In the cockpit of Amy's GNX-604T Advanced GN-X, the voice of a female operator sounded, alerting him to an unknown enemy unit infiltrating the asteroid base. Amy's first reaction was to wonder where this lady had been all this time, but after hearing her report in full, he could not help but be shocked by the enemy's attack. The enemy unit had infiltrated the base at a lightning speed and was heading deeper. The base's passageways could accommodate a mobile suit, but they were quite narrow and not designed for combat. Despite this, the enemy was able to destroy the defending mobile suits accurately and pushed forward.

Only two things were known about this enemy unit: its use of short-barreled guns, and its resemblance to the shooting type Gundam deployed by Celestial Being, but it was unclear if it was an equipment variation or a successor unit. Although the base's security cameras were continuously tracking the Gundam, it immediately destroyed them whenever it spotted one, making collecting information on the enemy unit difficult. As an ace pilot, Amy exceled in freely maneuvering his mobile suit. Thus, battling in the base's narrow passageways did not suit him, and he had no intention of fighting a losing battle. Amy thus decided to head out of the base and intercept the Gundam as it escaped. He also considered the possibility that the Gundam had ran out of ammunition by then.

  +
Amy's decision ended up saving his life. Just as he spotted the Gundam outside the base, the entire base went up in flames as the explosives planted by the Gundam in the center of the base exploded. Amy cursed, and immediately attacked the Gundam. As he predicted, the Gundam's firearm fell silent after firing a few shots and was discarded. Amy initially wanted to seize the opening and pressed on with his attack, but was forced to reconsider when a new gun appeared in the Gundam's hand. This then repeated a few more times, causing Amy to complain that the Gundam was not playing fair by carrying so many guns. In the end, Amy's Advanced GN-X ran out of energy, and the Gundam calmly left.

Leo/Cherudim SAGA hid behind an asteroid some distance away from the asteroid base and identified two MSJ-06II-E Tieren Space Types guarding it. After bouncing off several asteroids to get closer, Leo/Cherudim SAGA sniped the first Tieren Space Type, hitting its mono-eye rail and disabling its main camera. Leo/Cherudim SAGA then moved behind the second Tieren Space Type and disabled its propulsion system with two well-placed shots. As a former HRL mobile suit pilot, Leo was very familiar with the Tieren Space Type. Leo/Cherudim SAGA subsequently shot and destroyed a few structures on the surface of the asteroid base before infiltrating the base.

In the base, Leo/Cherudim SAGA released GN Mines from the GN Missile Container near the base's powerplants and activated their timers. Leo/Cherudim SAGA then escaped from the base, and with the GN Mines blowing up the powerplants one by one, the asteroid base was destroyed while giving members of the terrorist group sufficient time to escape. With its mission accomplished, Leo/Cherudim SAGA retreated. Upon returning to base, Sherilyn Hyde, Fereshte's mechanic and Ian Vashti's disciple, asked for Leo's feedback on the Gundam. Leo replied that it was not bad, and while its overall performance was slightly inferior to the original, it was not much of an issue. He then praised Sherilyn's skills, remarking that from the Gundam's movements, one could hardly tell that it was built from a severely damaged mobile suit.

The GN-006/SA Cherudim Gundam SAGA (aka Cherudim Gundam SAGA, Cherudim SAGA, Seven Guns) is a variant of the GN-006 Cherudim Gundam introduced in Mobile Suit Gundam 00V. Known pilots include Lockon Stratos and Leo Sieg.[1][2]

Technology & Combat Characteristic

The GN-006/SA Cherudim Gundam SAGA (Special Assault Gundam Arms), also known simply as Cherudim SAGA, is a special equipment version of the GN-006 Cherudim Gundam designed for infiltrating enemy facilities.[1][2][3][4] For effective combat within the narrow confines of these facilities, the mobile suit mainly uses short-barreled guns, and carries a total of seven such guns throughout its body.[2][3][4][5] Ian Vashti, designer of Cherudim SAGA, gave it seven guns as he was conscious of GN-001 Gundam Exia's development code of "Seven Swords", and this also led to the mobile suit having the development code of "Seven Guns".[2][3][4][5] While the original Cherudim specialized in long-range shooting, Cherudim SAGA was designed for mid-to-close range combat and its forehead sensor was modified accordingly.[2][3][6][7] In Sniper mode, this sensor would slide down diagonally to around the eye level.[1][2][3][8] Despite these changes, Cherudim SAGA retained the original Cherudim's long-range capabilities.[2] Thus, it maintains the basic strategy of the Cherudim, which is to target and shoot enemies from a distance.[1][2]

For defense, Cherudim SAGA was equipped with an easy-to-use GN Small Shield.[2][3][6][8] This shield replaced the original Cherudim's GN Shield Bits, which were removed due to being unsuitable for use in narrow spaces.[2][3][5] Additionally, a GN Missile Container covers and protects the mobile suit's rear waist-mounted GN Drive in place of the GN Shield Bits, and extra armor was mounted on the left and right sides of the drive.[2][3][5][8] Changes were also made to the mobile suit's chest section, with additional armor installed and a sensor added to the left chest.[3][5][8] This chest-mounted sensor is reminiscent to that of the GNY-002 Gundam Sadalsuud, and is thought to improve the accuracy in gathering information.[8] Overall, the new parts used in changing the Cherudim to the Cherudim SAGA were kept to a minimum, with the majority being guns.[3][8] The Cherudim SAGA's total weight is also reduced compared to the Cherudim's, and this is due to the abolishment of the GN Shield Bits.[3][5][8] The change in color scheme, from the Cherudim's green to the black of the Cherudim SAGA, seems to be achieved through the programming of the nanomachines responsible for the mobile suit's colors.[5]

After the final battle with the A-Laws and the Innovators, the heavily damaged Cherudim was rebuilt as Cherudim SAGA by Sherilyn Hyde, Ian's disciple, and assigned to the Fereshte.[1][2][5][9] With the primary Ptolemaios Team unable to move freely and their new Gundams still under development, the Fereshte, a support team that was disbanded, was re-established as a second team to conduct some of the armed interventions.[1][9] The Cherudim SAGA was one of two main Gundams deployed by Fereshte, and since there was no GN Drive to spare, both mobile suits were powered by particle storage tank, also known as large GN Condenser.[5][6][9][10] Additionally, Cherudim SAGA's overall performance was slightly degraded compared to the original Cherudim, and this was a result of it being built from the remains of the wrecked Cherudim.[1][9] As the Earth Sphere Federation had full control of the Orbital Elevators, Fereshte faced difficulties in moving large objects, such as mobile suits, between earth and space.[1][9] Thus, Fereshte stationed its Gundams in difference places, with Cherudim SAGA situated in space and used exclusively for space-based missions.[1][9]

Armaments

 • GN Assault Carbine
Cherudim SAGA's main weapon, this special mission gun is a short barrel version of the GN-006 Cherudim Gundam's GN Sniper Rifle II.[2][3][6][8] The GN Assault Carbine maintains a high accuracy and is suitable for mid-range sniping mission.[2][3][5][8] It can be stored on the right shoulder when not in use.[2][3][6][8]
 • GN Submachine Gun
A beam machine gun with the same level of ability as the GN Sniper Rifle II's triple Vulcan mode and designed to be used in the same way as well.[2][3][5][8] The GN Submachine Gun can spray a hail of beams over a wide area, and has excellent suppression power.[2][8] Two of these guns are stored on dedicated holders on the Cherudim SAGA's knees.[3][5][6][8]
 • GN Beam Pistol II
Like the original Cherudim, Cherudim SAGA carries two of this close-range use firearms, one on each side of its backpack.[2][5][7][8] Despite having low firepower due to their small size, these pistols were shown to be capable of destroying enemy mobile suit in certain situations.[5][7][11][12] They are also easy to handle and have excellent rapid-fire performance.[5][7] Furthermore, they could be used for melee combat as the bottom section of each pistol's barrel was coated with a beam resistant coating,[3][5][7] enabling them to block/parry enemy's GN Beam Saber, as well as physical blade, such as the GNZ-007 Gaddess's GN Heat Saber and GNW-20000 Arche Gundam's GN Buster Sword.[2][7][13][14]
 • GN Beam Pistol
Same firearm as used by the GN-002 Gundam Dynames, a pair of them are stored in gun holders attached to the Cherudim SAGA's side skirt armor.[2][3][6][8] These pistols are easy to handle due to their small size.[2][15][16] Despite exchanging firepower for excellent rapid-fire capabilities, they still have sufficient power to fend off enemy mobile suits.[15][16]
 • GN Missile Container
A container that covers and protects the Cherudim SAGA's rear waist-mounted GN Drive.[2][3][6][8] GN Missiles are stored in the container's main storage compartment, while GN Mines are carried on the inner surface of the container's hatch, which opens by flipping downwards.[1][2][3][8] Unlike the standard GN Missiles carried in the front waist armor's GN Missile Pods, the GN Missiles stored in this container have a stubby appearance and are not equipped with propulsion devices.[3][8] These missiles are launched and propelled through GN Particles released from an explosion, and are used to attack enemies in close range.[3][5][8] The GN Missile Container remained even when the Cherudim SAGA's GN Drive was replaced with a large GN Condenser.[1][5][6][9]
 • GN Small Shield
A small, easy-to-use shield mounted on the Cherudim SAGA's left shoulder, it can generate a GN Field for a brief period of time.[2][3][6][8] When required, the GN Small Shield could be removed from the shoulder and held in the mobile suit's hand as it has a handle on its back.[3][5][6][8] A sensor is built into this shield's central crystal section, enabling the Gundam to search for enemies even when it is defending with the shield.[3][5][8]
 • GN Missile Pod
The Cherudim SAGA retained the four GN Missile Pods of the Cherudim, one in each of the front waist armor's rectangular blocks.[3][5][8][17] Each GN Missile Pod carried two GN Missiles, and when used, the front waist armor segment would flip open for launching these missiles.[5][14][17] The GN Missiles could be used to damage enemy mobile suit, for interceptions, and to restrict enemy movements.[5][14]

Special Equipment & Features

 • Sniper Mode
As with the GN-006 Cherudim Gundam, the Cherudim SAGA has an alternate Sniper Mode.[2][3][5][7] However, unlike Cherudim, Cherudim SAGA's Sniper Mode relies on a forehead-mounted crystal sensor optimized for mid-to-close range combat.[2][3][5][8] In Sniper Mode, this crystal sensor would slide down diagonally to around the eye level.[1][2][3][8] Like Cherudim, Cherudim SAGA's Sniper Mode is used alongside a rifle-shaped shooting scope in the cockpit.[1][5][18][19] This shooting scope also appears similar to the one used by Cherudim, and seems to act as a controller for the GN Assault Carbine.[1][5]
A special system that when activated would fully release all of the compressed high-density GN Particles accumulated in the Gundam, enhancing its mobility and defensive capabilities as well as allowing it to perform at three times its normal output for a limited time.[20][21][22][23] Additionally, the entire Gundam appeared red and afterimages were generated when moving.[20][22] Unfortunately, the Trans-Am System is a double-edged sword, as once it ended, the Gundam's performance would drop as all its GN Particles were used up.[20][21][22][24] This negative effect would last until the stored GN Particles within the Gundam returned to normal level.[22][24] The new Gundams deployed by the Celestial Being in AD 2312 were all designed on the premise of using the Trans-Am System actively, thus, although a certain drop in performance remained unavoidable, the deterioration would not be that severe until they could not battle.[20][25][26] Furthermore, these Gundams were able to deactivate the Trans-Am System at any time.[26][27] The Trans-Am System was originally limited to Gundams powered by GN Drive, but it was later made available to Gundams powered by large GN Condenser as well.[26][27][28] This was thanks to the improved GN Condenser developed by Sherilyn Hyde after the final battle with the Innovators.[29][30] As such, it is likely that Cherudim SAGA could use Trans-Am System even after its power source was changed to the large GN Condenser.
 • Dock for Haro
Haro is the name of small versatile robots with individual AIs that Celestial Being uses for support and maintenance of their ships and mobile suits.[15][31][32] Like the Cherudim, one Haro can be placed on a circular dock on the right side of the Cherudim SAGA's cockpit to assist the pilot in operating the Gundam.[1][5][7]

Variants

 • GN-006/SA Cherudim Gundam SAGA Type.GBF
A custom Gunpla of the Cherudim Gundam SAGA built by Meijin Kawaguchi III.[2] Meijin incorporated some unique elements when creating this unit, such as changing its color scheme from the original black to an urban camouflage gray color.[2][33] This Gunpla appeared in "Gundam Build Fighters: Battlogue" episode four, where it was used in a high difficulty test of the G-Quest system.[33][34] It was defeated by the combined efforts of Mario Renato's GNX-611T/G Striker GN-X and Julio Renato's GNX-803T GN-XIV Type.GBF.[33]

History

Mobile Suit Gundam 00V Vol. 013 GN-006/SA Cherudim Gundam SAGA

Mobile Suit Gundam 00I 2314 Chapter 1

With the current Earth Sphere Federation administration pursuing a reconciliatory policy, the Celestial Being adopted a new modus operandi, where it carried out armed interventions only when necessary and on a small scale, without revealing the organization's identity. Additionally, with the primary Ptolemaios Team unable to move freely and their new Gundams still under development, the disbanded support team Fereshte was re-established as a second team to conduct some of the armed interventions.
