The GN-007GNHW/M Arios Gundam GNHW/M (aka Arios Gundam GNHW/M) is a variant of the GN-007 Arios Gundam introduced in Season 2 of Mobile Suit Gundam 00, and is piloted by Allelujah Haptism.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
Prior to the Celestial Being's final battle with the A-Laws and the Innovators, the GN-007 Arios Gundam received upgrades that significantly improved its firepower, turning it into the GN-007GNHW/M Arios Gundam GNHW/M.[1][2][3][4] "GNHW/M" stands for "GN Heavy Weapons/Missile", and the mobile suit featured three new weapons: a pair of back-mounted GN Missile Containers, a handheld GN Cannon, and a GN Beam Rifle built into the modified back stabilizer.[1][4][5][6] Even with these added weapons, the Arios Gundam GNHW/M can still switch between Mobile Suit Form and the Flight Form like the original Arios Gundam, and it also retained the ability to combine with the GNR-101A GN Archer to form the GN-007GNHW/M+GNR-101A Archer Arios.[1][2][3][5]
Initially, Arios Gundam was supposed to be upgraded into the GN-007/AL Arios Gundam Ascalon, but the added heavy weapons caused balancing issues, and they also reduced the mobile suit's speed and mobility, hindering cooperation with the GN Archer.[1][5][7][8] While efforts were being made to solve these issues, Robert Spacey (a friend of Celestial Being's chief mechanic Ian Vashti) proposed removing all the added heavy weapons except for the GN Missile Containers to achieve a better balance, and recommended the use of a large, powerful handheld firearm to compensate for the reduction in firepower.[5][8][9][10] Robert's proposal was accepted as computer simulation showed it had better capabilities than the Arios Gundam Ascalon, especially when in coordination with GN Archer.[8][9] Furthermore, its fighting patterns took into consideration the personality settings of the Arios Gundam's pilot, Allelujah Haptism.[8][9] After further revisions, Robert's proposal became the Arios Gundam GNHW/M.[8][9]
The basic fighting style of the Arios Gundam GNHW/M is to destroy the enemies in its way with its powerful GN Cannon, then charged into the center of the enemy forces and confused them by randomly firing the GN Missiles from the pair of GN Missile Containers.[1] This would create a favorable combat environment for the other Gundams that arrived after the Arios Gundam GNHW/M.[1] Both the Arios Gundam GNHW/M's GN Cannon and the GN Missile Containers are usable in MS Form and Flight Form, while the GN Beam Rifle is a dedicated weapon for use in Flight Form.[1][2][3][6] Like the Arios Gundam, the Arios Gundam GNHW/M's weaponry, thrust, and mobility in Flight Form are enhanced when it docked with the GN Archer's Flight Form to form the Archer Arios.[2][5][11]
Armaments[]
- GN Cannon
- On the Arios Gundam GNHW/M, the GN-007 Arios Gundam's main weapon, the GN Twin Beam Rifle, is replaced by the GN Cannon – a large beam cannon with significantly higher firepower.[1][2][5][12] However, the GN Cannon has a lower rate of fire, so the Gundam Meister needs to have excellent shooting accuracy.[1][5][13] To compensate for the reduced rate of fire, a pair of rapid firing GN Vulcans are mounted on the weapon, one on the left side and one on the right side.[1][2][5][11] Usable in both MS Form and Flight Form, the GN Cannon is typically held in both hands during MS Form, and is mounted in an upside-down manner on the bottom right side during Flight Form.[1][2][3][5] A grip with a trigger is fitted on the right side of the GN Cannon, while a horizontal support handle is mounted on the left side.[1][5][11]
- GN Missile Container
- A pair of GN Missile Containers are equipped on the sides of the Arios Gundam GNHW/M's back stabilizer during MS Form, and they are relocated to the left and right sides of the mobile suit during Flight Form.[1][5][11][14] The change in the weapon's mounting location in Flight Form enabled the mobile suit to combine with the GNR-101A GN Archer, forming the GN-007GNHW/M+GNR-101A Archer Arios.[1][2][3] Usable in both MS Form and Flight Form, the GN Missile Containers are loaded with many small, high performance GN Missiles, which are also used by the GNR-010 0 Raiser.[1][4][5][13] The GN Missiles are fired when the containers' covers slide open, and they can be used to confuse and suppress the enemy forces.[1][2][3][6]
- GN Beam Shield
- The Arios Gundam GNHW/M retained the pair of GN Beam Shields installed in the Arios Gundam's shoulder binders.[1][11][12][15] This defensive armament not only deploys beam shield made of GN Particles, it can also be used as an offensive weapon in Flight Form.[1][5][12][15] During Flight Form, the shoulder binders turn into the nose unit, and they can open widely like a claw to sandwich and then bisect the enemy mobile suit using the beam shields, which now function as beam blades.[1][5][13][15]
- GN Vulcan
- A beam weaponry with low power but a high rate of fire, the GN Vulcan is effective in intercepting missiles, etc.[1][2][3][15] It can work even when the battlefield is filled with special particles that diminished the effect of particle beams, as shown when Arios Gundam GNHW/M fired the pair of GN Vulcans built into the GN Cannon to deter enemy units during the final battle with A-Laws.[2] The Arios Gundam GNHW/M also has another pair of GN Vulcans built into the sides of the Flight Form's nose unit, opposite the GN Beam Shields' emitters.[1][3][15] These nose-mounted GN Vulcans are carried over from the Arios Gundam.[12][13][15]
- GN Beam Rifle
- Exclusively for use in Flight Form, this weapon is built into the tip of the Arios Gundam GNHW/M's back stabilizer, which turns into the top of the nose unit during Flight Form.[1][6]
- GN Submachine Gun
- Like the Arios Gundam, the Arios Gundam GNHW/M has a small, double-barreled, beam submachine gun built into the back of each forearm.[1][5][15][16] The pair of GN Submachine Guns have the same performance as the handheld GN Beam Submachine Gun used by the GN-003 Gundam Kyrios.[1][5][12][15] When used, the armored covers concealing the GN Submachine Guns slide open to expose the guns' muzzles.[1][5][15][16]
- GN Beam Saber
- The pair of GN Beam Sabers stored on the back of the Arios Gundam's left and right front waist armor are retained by the Arios Gundam GNHW/M.[1][5][12][15] When used, the GN Beam Saber swings out to the side for grabbing by the mobile suit's hand, then it emits a beam blade made of compressed GN Particles for melee combat.[1][5][11][15] The GN Beam Saber has high attack power, but its power can be reduced due to atmospheric conditions and beam scattering/diffusion measures.[1][12][15]
- GN Twin Beam Rifle
- Although the Arios Gundam GNHW/M has replaced the Arios Gundam's GN Twin Beam Rifle with the GN Cannon, it can still be equipped with the weapon when needed.[1][2] The GN Twin Beam Rifle is a double-barreled beam rifle with a high rate of fire and is remarkably accurate even during high-speed movements.[1][5][15] The rifle is handheld during MS Form, and can be mounted in an upside-down manner on the bottom of the mobile suit during Flight Form, with its upper barrel capable of pivoting to attack ground targets.[1][5][12][15]
Special Equipment & Features[]
- A special system that when activated would fully release all of the compressed high-density GN Particles accumulated in the Gundam, enhancing its mobility and defensive capabilities as well as allowing it to perform at three times its normal output for a limited time.[12][17][18][19] Additionally, the entire Gundam appeared red and afterimages were generated when moving.[12][18] Since the GN-007GNHW/M Arios Gundam GNHW/M retained the original GN-007 Arios Gundam's high mobility, it also benefited from the Trans-Am System's mobility boost more than its fellow Gundams.[1][12] As with the Arios Gundam, it is likely that when Arios Gundam GNHW/M activated this system while in the Archer Arios form, the system's effects would spread to the docked GNR-101A GN Archer.[12] Unfortunately, the Trans-Am System is a double-edged sword, as once it ended, the Gundam's performance would drop as all its GN Particles were used up.[12][17][18][20] This negative effect would last until the stored GN Particles within the Gundam returned to normal level.[17][18][20] The new Gundams deployed by the Celestial Being in A.D. 2312 were all designed on the premise of using the Trans-Am System actively, thus, although a certain drop in performance remained unavoidable, the deterioration would not be that severe until they could not battle.[12][21][22] Furthermore, these Gundams were able to deactivate the Trans-Am System at any time.[22][23]

Variants[]
- GN-007GNHW/M+GNR-101A Archer Arios
- Like the GN-007 Arios Gundam, the GN-007GNHW/M Arios Gundam GNHW/M's Flight Form can dock with the GNR-101A GN Archer's Flight Form to form the Archer Arios.[1][2][3][5] In Archer Arios form, the GN Archer is attached to Arios Gundam GNHW/M's rear, enhancing the Gundam's thrust and mobility, and adding more GN Missiles and GN Vulcans to the Gundam's armament.[2][3][5][11] The Archer Arios form also enabled transfer of GN Particles from Arios Gundam GNHW/M to GN Archer, and these particles are used to recharge the latter's large GN Condenser and to power its systems.[3][5][15][24] The Archer Arios can separate into the Arios Gundam GNHW/M and the GN Archer according to battle conditions, enabling them to fight as separate mobile suits and to transform into their MS Forms.[2][3]
