The GNR-010/XN XN Raiser (aka XN Raiser, pronounced Zan Raiser) is a variant of the GNR-010 0 Raiser introduced in the Mobile Suit Gundam 00V side story.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
The XN Raiser is the GNR-010 0 Raiser equipped with the enhancement parts known as "GN021XN XN Unit". XN Raiser carries the same armaments as the original 0 Raiser, but adds on two GN Buster Sword III which serve as ramming weapons, increasing the unit's combat capability. The unit also has an additional pair of manipulator arms to hold extra weapons. When combined with the GN-0000 00 Gundam, the entire craft docks onto the Gundam's back. The intention of the XN Raiser was to give the 0 Raiser the ability to rival the 00 Gundam in combat. However, since the 0 Raiser is docked with the 00 Gundam most of the time, this design was never produced, and the unit exists only as design data. This data would contribute to the development of future units.
Armaments[]
- GN Beam Machine Gun
- A beam gun that used GN Particles, one was installed on the inner side of each side binder. The pair of GN Beam Machine Guns have a higher rate of fire than normal beam rifles, and although their firepower is slightly weaker, they still have sufficient destructive power for mobile suit battles. Because this weapon consumed a large amount of particles, there is a limit to its use as the XN Raiser was not equipped with a GN Drive.
- GN Micro Missile
- Upon hitting the target, the GN Micro Missiles release GN Particles to destroy the target from within. Fired from four ports on the outer side of each side binder, these guided missiles could be used for intercepting enemy mobile suits and are also suitable for destroying large targets, such as ships. Compared to the GN Missiles used by the Gundams, these GN Micro Missiles are smaller, enabling more of them to be carried within the limited internal space of the XN Raiser. Furthermore, due to improvement in particle compression technology, these missiles' smaller size did not lead to a drop in power.
- GN Vulcan
- Four GN Vulcans were installed in the XN Raiser's central block, two on each side. The GN Vulcans are for aerial combat with enemy aircrafts, intercepting missiles, etc. Additionally, due to their high rapid-fire capability but low firepower, they are mainly used for restricting enemy movement when battling GN Drive Tau-equipped mobile suits, and cannot be expected to destroy them. They can also be used to keep the enemy in check when the XN Raiser is docking with 00 Gundam, or as a barrage to defend against incoming attacks.
- GN Buster Sword III
- Two GN Buster Sword IIIs are equipped on the sides to improve the XN Raiser's melee combat capabilities. They serve as ramming weapons during high-speed charges.
Special Equipment & Features[]
- Dock for Haro
History[]
Believing that he should be able to defend himself, Saji Crossroad goes into a battle simulator in the GNR-010 0 Raiser's cockpit, but is repeatedly shot down. Remarking that a Gundam would be stronger, the Red Haro overhears this and switches the simulation data to that of the XN Raiser. This allowed Saji to destroy all the enemies in the simulation, who was surprised by the XN-Raiser's fighting strength. However, Saji disapproved of the violent simulation and resolved to fight his own battles, without the XN-Raiser.
