Combat Characteristics
Successor to the GN-X. The GN-X III is the Federation's mass produced mobile suit used by both the peacekeeping regular army and the elite A-Laws force. Overall design is similar to the GN-X, minus the four thruster canards. The units are equip with a GN Beam Lance, which doubles as both a melee weapon and beam rifle. The GN-XIII can also equip any of the weapons used by the original GN-X.
Armaments
GN Beam Rifle
Like its predecessor and successor units the GN-X III can be equipped with a standard GN Beam Rifle, however this weapon is usually set aside in favor of the GN-Lance.
GN Beam Saber
Equipped with two beam sabers for melee attack.
GN Claws
A weapon carried over from its predecessor the GN-X, but was discarded in the later GNX-704T Ahead model mobile suit. A melee weapon that utilizes GN particles to enhance the cutting ability of the mobile suit's claw like fingers.
GN Lance
The GN-X III's main weapon that functions as both ranged and melee. The weapon is a physical lance that uses a piercing attack to destroy enemy units. At the base of the lance head are four emitters that shoot GN beams in a manner similar to the GN sub-machine gun used by the Kyrios and Arios.
GN Shield
Like its predecessor, the GN-X III utilizes a GN Shield that can generate a GN Micro Field, which can block some attack if properly positioned.
GN Vulcan
Like the prototype, the GN-X III retains its two GN Vulcan guns on its head. The GN Vulcan guns sacrifice power for rate of fire and are not particularly useful in anti-MS combat. Their primary function is the interception and destruction of incoming missiles and to lay down a suppressive field of fire utilizing its high rate of fire.
Particle disruptors
These canisters can release a gas that renders beam attacks useless. This gives the GN-X III an advantage as its primary weapon is a physical lance. However since only units equipped with a GN Drive or a GN Drive Tau are capable of using beam weapons it can be assumed that these canisters were designed for combat against rouge Federation forces or should Celestial Being and the Gundams ever reappear.
History
Four years after Operation Fallen Angels, the newly formed Earth Sphere Federation created the GN-XIII, after its prototype model and the GN-XII.
