Combat Abilities

The Δ Astray is armed with a simple armament consisting solely of a beam rifle and a katana for close combat.

System features

Voiture Lumiere

The Δ Astray is equipped with the "Voiture Lumiere" beam wing propulsion system, a variant of the same system used in the GSX-401FW Stargazer of the DSSD. This system grants the suit superior agility.

Self destruct system

Possibly the most notable trait of the Δ Astray is its self-detonate system, which was installed by the Martians on the suit to prevent others from learning of their technological level. The system causes the suit to automatically detonate the reactor if one tries to study its internal system. Because of this the Acidalium's mechanic crews must be careful and brief when performing routine maintance on the Δ Astray. The system is also supposed to activate if the Δ Astray suffers heavy damage.

History

Known as Mars' first Gundam, the Delta Astray is the first original mobile suit built by the Mars colonists, dubbed as Martian, with help from the Deep Space Survey and Development Organization and Junk Guild's Lowe Guele who named the MS the Δ Astray. The suit becomes the personal suit of Martian Coordinator Agnes Brahe, who commands the interplanetary ship Acidalium. Since Mars isn't involved in the conflict between the Earth Alliance and ZAFT there are no Neutron Jammers present on Mars, allowing the Δ Astray to be powered by a nuclear reactor. However when the ship visits the Earth Sphere in late CE 73, the Acidalium's crew has to install a Neutron Jammer Canceller on the suit so that it can use its reactor in an are using N-Jammers.

Ergnes uses the Δ Astray during his visit to the Earth Sphere in several battles both in space and on Earth. Eventually the Δ Astray is crippled in battle against Sven Cal Payang's GAT-X105E Strike E but fortunely for Ergnes the self destruct system doesn't activate due to malfunctioning in the battle. Ergnes himself wasn't aware of this feature.

The Δ Astray's Voiture Lumiere system is later salvaged and used by Lowe to upgrade an MWF-JG73 Civilian Astray JG Custom into the MMF-JG73L Turn Δ.
