Hiling Care (ヒリング・ケア Hiringu Kea?) was a fictional character in Mobile Suit Gundam 00. Hiling was an Innovade and was part of the Innovators in Season 2. She was known to have piloted the GNZ-003 Gadessa, the GNZ-005 Garazzo, and the GNX-612T/AA Superbia GN-X.

Personality & Character[]

Hiling was an Innovade of the same DNA base sequence as Ribbons Almark. Created for combat, Hiling was of neutral sex, but to facilitate interactions with humans, Hiling assumed the female gender. She was straight forward and the most sarcastic member of the Innovators. Due to Ribbons' influence, she took pride in being part of the Innovators and deemed humans to be inferior. While she seemed unaffected by the death of her fellow Innovator, Bring Stabity, she actually held a grudge against the Celestial Being for killing him. She later grew concerned about their capabilities following the deaths of Divine Nova and Anew Returner, but her faith in the Innovators' superiority remained unshaken. She was devoted to Ribbons and seems to be jealous of whoever caught the latter's interest.

Skills & Abilities[]

Hiling is a combat-type Innovade and primarily served as a mobile suit pilot. Like other Innovades, Hiling possesses B level quantum brainwaves, nanomachines, enhanced reflexes, telepathy, the inability to age, and androgynous appearances. As a member of the A-Laws, she was granted a license to act independently by A-Laws' HQ, allowing her to participate in missions as she desired. Furthermore, she had full autonomy during missions. As a result, she became a one-man army and was also known as a 'License Holder'.

History[]

Early Days[]

Very little is known concerning Hiling's past but what is known is that she was a custom-made Innovade for Ribbons' group, the Innovators. As the Earth Sphere Federation Forces was being officially established in AD 2312, Hiling was one of the figures behind Ribbons who told his fellow Innovators that they would be witnessing the future of humanity.

A-Laws' Party[]

Hiling first introduced herself after shooting the gun out of Tieria Erde's hand when the Gundam Meister attempted to shoot Ribbons during a party, forcing him to flee. Afterwards, Ribbons and Regene Regetta blamed each other for ruining the party, while Regene preferred to convince Tieria to join their side, Ribbons favored having the Celestial Being as an enemy, with Hiling explaining that the more aggressive Celestial Being acted, the more the public will support the A-Laws. She also dismissed the anti-federation group, Katharon, as the A-Laws' only enemy, and noted that otherwise, there would be nothing for her to do. When Regene voiced concerns about the GN-0000 00 Gundam's Twin Drive System, Ribbons brushed it aside, stating that the system at that time was no threat to the Innovators' GNZ-003 Gadessa. Hiling then asked Ribbons for her debut as a mobile suit pilot and he agreed.

Battle of Memento Mori[]

Hiling was later sent by Ribbons to assist fellow Innovator, Revive Revival, in capturing the GN-0000 00 Gundam. Through Ribbons' connection, Hiling joined A-Laws with the rank of Captain and granted a license to act independently by A-Laws' HQ. Piloting a differently colored Gadessa from the one used by fellow Innovator, Revive Revival, was part of the A-Laws forces protecting the satellite weapon, the Memento Mori. After the weapon wiped out half of the Katharon's second fleet sent to destroy it, Hiling used the Gadessa's GN Mega Launcher to sink one of the ships from the first fleet that arrived from another direction, while they were still too far to fire their missiles at the Memento Mori.

Hiling then sunk more ships with the GN Mega Launcher as the battle between A-Laws and Katharon intensified. When the GN-0000+GNR-010 00 Raiser arrived to aid the Katharon, Hiling decided to focus on it and fired the GN Mega Launcher. The 00 Raiser evaded the huge beam and countered with its own powerful beam shot. Hiling's Gadessa moved away in time, but the 00 Raiser's attack still grazed its left foot. Hiling then left her assigned position to better engaged the 00 Raiser. She attempted to shoot down the 00 Raiser a second time, and like before, her shot failed to hit its target. Hiling's Gadessa then engaged the 00 Raiser in close combat.

As her mobile suit's GN Beam Saber pushed back against the 00 Raiser's GN Sword II, the enemy pilot, Setsuna F. Seiei muttered "Innovator", and Hiling was pleased that he knew about her true identity. She then noticed too late that the Celestial Being's ship, CBS-74 Ptolemaios 2, had taken the opportunity to speed past them towards the Memento Mori, right in the weapon's blind spot. When the A-Laws forces pushed the enemy ship into the satellite weapon's line of fire and seeming vaporized it with the weapon's particle beam, Hiling laughed heartily at the sight, gloating, "It's all over now".

However, her joy was short-lived, as the ship had dodge the shot using the Trans-Am System. As the Ptolemaios 2 and its other Gundams attacked the A-Laws' forces guarding the satellite weapon, Hiling aimed the Gadessa's GN Mega Launcher at the ship's rear, but was stopped by the 00 Raiser. While the two mobile suits were locked in combat, the Memento Mori was destroyed by the Ptolemaios 2 team. Despite the loss of the satellite weapon, Hiling refused to back down and fired the Gadessa's GN Vulcan at the retreating 00 Raiser. The Gadessa's attack was then interrupted by beam shots from the GNW-003/SH Liang, and the 00 Raiser used the opening to slice off the right arm of Hiling's machine before escaping.

Operation on Earth[]

Following the defeat of Bring Stabity on Earth at the hands of Tieria's two Gundams, Hiling mused about his death with Divine Nova while they were in one of the Orbital Elevators' space station. When Divine did not react to her remarks, she offered to "comfort" him if he was feeling lonely but he shrugged her off, stating that he's full of rage. The two Innovators were then transferred to Earth to Kati Mannequin's squadron to pursue the Ptolemaios 2 team, joining up with Revive.

Onboard a Bering-class ship, Hiling heard from afar, Patrick Colasour's attempts to teach Andrei Smirnov how to properly court a lady. Hiling then sympathized with humans as they could not communicate through their thoughts like the Innovators. Revive then approached, saying that Regene would not be joining them; Hiling commented that, "There's a strange one". Kati then arrived in a plane, and Hiling asked if their commander was useful; Revive answered "Well, for a human, she is useful". Kati's A-Laws team later launched an aerial assault on the Ptolemaios 2 team, but before they could get close to the enemy ship, they were attacked by pre-emptive sniper fire from the GN-006 Cherudim Gundam in Trans-Am mode.

After losing several mobile suits to Cherudim's attacks, the A-Laws' mobile suits, including Hiling and Revive's Gadessas, and Divine's GNMA-Y0001 Empruss, dispersed to avoid any more losses. When the Cherudim's Trans-Am mode ended, the A-Laws' machines regrouped and launched their attack. They were quickly intercepted by the GN-007 Arios Gundam and the GN-008 Seravee Gundam. Hiling's and Revive's Gadessas came to the fore to engage the Gundams, with Hiling's unit firing its GN Vulcan while Revive's unit used a mix of GN Vulcan and GN Beam Saber. The Empruss then stepped in to immobilize the two Gundams with the Egner Whips, allowing the A-Laws' mobile suits to go ahead and attacked the Ptolemaios 2. However, Kati's team was recalled before they could destroy the enemy ship as the ESF Coup d'état forces had taken over the Orbital Elevator in Africa.

While Kati's team was put on stand by, Hiling noted that they would not be needed and Revive wondered what Ribbons was planning. Revive then remarked that Divine look irritated, and asked if he was still waiting to avenge Bring. Divine was shocked that they knew, and Hiling laughingly answered that they were all the same, pointing to her head. Kati's team later launched to assist in destroying the purged outer wall pieces of the Orbital Elevator that was triggered by an attack from a second Memento Mori, but Hiling and Revive did not participate, while Divine was killed when his Empruss was destroyed moments earlier by the 00 Raiser in another battle near the satellite weapon.

Defeat after defeat[]

Four months later in space, Hiling and Revive interrupted a talk between Andrei and Louise Halevy. Revive revealed that Andrei was promoted for killing his father in the immediate aftermath of the "Break Pillar" Incident, and Hiling mocked that Andrei was a "promising" member of the "elite" A-Laws group. Hiling later laughed and called them a perfect pair, noting that Andrei killed his father while Louise was seeking revenge for her deceased family. She then left, with Revive following soon after.

Hiling and Revive subsequently launched in their mobile suits to locate the Ptolemaios 2 for the A-Laws. By this point, Hiling had switched to a uniquely colored GNZ-005 Garazzo, while Revive stuck to his Gadessa. Using Revive's link to one of the Ptolemaios 2 team members, Anew Returner, who was actually an Innovator spy, Revive easily learnt of the enemy ship's location. This caused Hiling to compare Revive to a dog, and when he appeared displeased by her comments, she explained that she was just showing her gratitude.

During the ensuing battle between the A-Laws forces and the Ptolemaios 2 team, Hiling's Garazzo charged at the 00 Raiser with both GN Beam Claws in an attempt to avenge Bring and Divine's death. The 00 Raiser stopped the attack with both GN Sword IIs, but when Setsuna was distracted, Hiling sought to capitalize on it and pushed her attacks. However, she was quickly defeated when the 00 Raiser activated Trans-Am mode and shot off both of Garazzo's arms. After the battle, A-Laws' second-in-command, Arthur Goodman expressed his dissatisfaction with losing more than half of his mobile suits and by Celestial Being's capture of Revive, unaware that his capture was part of the Innovators' plan. When he questioned the license holders' capabilities, Hiling replied that he did not understand their methods and wanted him to let them handle the next battle. Arthur then agreed to Hiling's request while calling her a 'big talker', causing an irritated Hiling to leave after a simple "Roger".

Revive and Anew eventually escaped from the Ptolemaios 2. On their way out, Anew unleashed a virus that messed up the ship's system, while Revive heavily damaged the GNR-010 0 Raiser's cockpit after a failed attempt to hijack it, putting the 00 Raiser out of commission. Taking advantage of the situation, the Innovators quickly launched an attack on the ship with Hiling's Garazzo, Revive's Gadessa, Anew's GNZ-007 Gaddess and Louise's GNMA-0001V Regnant. While Gaddess fought against the Cherudim, the other three machines battled the Seravee, Arios and the GNR-101A GN Archer. When an opening appeared, Hiling's Garrazo and Revive's Gadessa broke through to attack the Ptolemaios 2, they were then unexpectedly destroyed by highly precise shots from the repaired 00 Raiser, but their pilots escaped in time using their respectively Core Fighters. The 00 Raiser proceeded to damage the Regnant and dealt the finishing blow to the Gaddess.

After the battle, Hiling wondered why they suffered another loss, and Revive replied it was likely due to Setsuna changing. Hiling initially did not get what Revive was talking about, but soon realized that Revive was suggesting that Setsuna was evolving into a genuine Innovator.

Final Battle[]

Prior to the A-Laws' fleet launching an all-out assault against the Celestial Being, Ribbons recalled Hiling, Revive, and Louise to their mothership, the Celestial Being, in preparations for their final encounter with the Gundams. Later, when the A-Laws fleet was on the brink of defeat by the combined forces of the Celestial Being, Katharon, and the ESF Coup forces, the Innovators finally took action and fired their huge mothership's powerful particle cannon. The Innovators also launched the GNZ-004 Gaga units, while Hiling and Revive stayed back as special reserve forces.

Hiling and Revive entered the battlefield after the Ptolemaios 2 successful landed in one of the mothership’s docking bays and the Gundams began breaking into the mothership as well. Working in unison, Hiling's Garazzo and Revive's Gadessa activated their newly installed Trans-Am System, easily overwhelming the Seravee and slicing off both its arms, forcing it to crash land on the surface of the mothership. The two mobile suits subsequently fought the 00 Raiser, with the Gadessa attacking with its GN Mega Launcher and the Garazzo using its GN Vulcan. After several attacks with little results, the two utilized Trans-Am to gain an advantage over 00 Raiser. They were later pushed away by the massive amount of GN Particles released from the 00 Raiser as it activated the Trans-Am Burst System.

The Garazzo and Gadessa then shut down and fell onto the mothership's surface when Tieria regained access to the quantum processing system Veda and activated the GN-009 Seraphim Gundam's Trial System. Although the Seraphim was later destroyed by Ribbons' CB-0000G/C Reborns Gundam, the Innovators remained cut off from Veda's support. Despite this, the Garrazo and Gadessa soon resumed operation and assisted the Reborns Gundam against the 00 Raiser, with Hiling declaring that they could deal with a mere human even without Veda's support. However, their assistance was short-lived as the Cherudim and Arios soon arrived to even the scale. While the Gadessa engaged Cherudim, Hiling and her Garazzo fought against Arios.

Hiling swiped at the approaching Arios with the Garazzo's right GN Beam Claw, but the enemy evaded the attack. Turning around to face the Arios, Hiling thrusted the large saber form of the right GN Beam Claw at it, but the Gundam dodged the attack and sliced off the Garazzo's right forearm. The protective mask covering the Garazzo's twin eyes camera was then shattered when the Arios bashed the Garazzo with the GN Twin Beam Rifle. Hiling retaliated by lashing out with the left GN Beam Claw, however the Arios moved around to the Garazzo's back and tore out its backpack. Immediately after, the Garazzo was caught by the Gundam's pincers. In a last-ditch attempt to stop the Arios, Hiling plunged the left GN Beam Claw into the Gundam's back. Unfortunately, this did not stop the Arios' attack and the Garazzo was sliced in half. Hiling then cried out to Ribbons for help as her Garazzo exploded.

Side Story: Mobile Suit Gundam 00V Vol.019 GNX-612T/AA Superbia GN-X[]

Hiling was sent on a mission to infiltrate and destroy a base of the Celestial Being located on an uninhabited island. However, she knew from the beginning the base was empty as the Innovators had seized Veda and were therefore aware of all Celestial Being's previously built bases and their status. However, Hiling had no intention of telling the humans about this. To derive some enjoyment from what would be a boring mission, Hiling obtained permissions to use the newly built Superbia GN-X. While piloting the Superbia GN-X, Hiling reminisced about Amy Zimbalist, who had offered to take her place for the mission.

Amy's reasons for doing so were that he could not let a cute lady go on such a dangerous mission, and he also deemed that the prototype Superbia GN-X was no different from a coffin. This was the first time Hiling was called "cute", and for a moment, she considered whether to let Amy pilot the mobile suit, but quickly dropped the thought and politely declined his offer as the Superbia GN-X utilized special technologies of the Innovators. Although Hiling enjoyed the one-sided destruction of the empty base, she also thought about completing the mission quickly and returning to base. She wondered how Amy, who had sent her off with a worried expression on his face, would react upon her return.
