The Jet Core Booster II is a fictional fighter jet that appeared in Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team.

Technology and Combat Characteristics

The Jet Core Booster II is a fighter jet that the Earth Federation developed from the FF-X7-Bst Core Booster. The primary difference between the two units is that the FF-X7-Bst Core Booster is an FF-X7 Core Fighter equipped with the Bst Booster while the Jet Core Booster II has been streamlined into a single unit that operates solely as a jet fighter. Both machines serve as high-speed aerial fighter units with high offensive capabilities that double as bomber units.

Armaments

• 2-barrel 25mm Vulcan Gun

The Jet Core Booster II is equipped with two 2-barrel 25mm Vulcan guns. The Vulcan guns are basic machine gun armaments designed for use against enemy aircraft, however they lack the force to seriously damage a mobile suit's thick armor.

• Missile Launcher

• Mega Particle Cannon

One of the most significant upgrades in the FF-X7-Bst Core Booster is the addition of a pair of mega particle cannons. The high output of the mega particle cannons is capable of penetrating thick mobile suit armor, a feat that the Vulcan guns are incapable of.

• Bombs

As a support fighter the FF-X7 Core Booster carries a payload of bombs that can be used to break fortified positions.

History

The Jet Core Booster II was developed and produced during the latter days of the One Year War, likely to serve as the replacement for aging jet fighters such as the FF-6 TIN Cod. One of the most notable operations the Jet Core Booster II took part in was the assault on a Principality of Zeon base in the jungles of Southeast Asia, the mountain fortress being one of the last of Zeon's strongholds on Earth. A large number of Jet Core Booster II units were deployed first to acquire air superiority. Once obtained the fighters' roles were switched to bombing the enemy base to cover the advance of the mobile suit assault forces.

After the end of the war the Earth Federation Forces saw that the future of combat vehicles lay with mobile suits and production of the Jet Core Booster II was halted to divert resources to mobile suit research and development.
