The Komusai was a type of reentry capsule that appeared throughout the early Universal Century timeline of the Gundam metaseries.
The Komusai was a short-range reentry capsule that was mass-produced by the Principality of Zeon and used most extensively for the deliverance of mobile suits and personal craft from space to Earth. It usually required a crew of two and could carry at least two additional passengers on the bridge. The Komusai had a hanger that could hold up to two Zakus or similar sized mobile suits, or supplies of various sorts. These reentry capsules were designed in tandem with the Musai-class light cruiser as the Musai has a docking port on the underside of the bow that is designed specifically for a Komusai, and it was standard procedure for each Musai to have one Komusai assigned to it. With the Komusai docked the Musai's mobile suit capacity is raised from three to five (this number only refers to Zakus, it is unknown how many Doms, which required more space, a Musai could carry with a Komusai docked). On its own the Komusai has no offensive or defensive capabilities nor could it exit the atmosphere under its own power. A Komusai is capable of docking in the hanger of a Gaw atmospheric attack carrier.
The Komusai was introduced at the same time as the Musai cruiser, and was one of the primary methods that Zeon brought mobile suits and personal to Earth before the introduction of the Zanzibar-class mobile cruiser. The Komusai would be used by the Principality of Zeon and remnant forces such as the Delaz Fleet up to the year 0083 U.C. but was completely phased out of service by 0087 U.C.
