The MS-13 Gasshia is a mobile suit that first appeared in original design series MS-X. The unit is piloted by Daru.

Technology & Combat Characteristics

The MS-13 Gasshia in many ways resembles a space version of the MSM-07 Z'Gok. Many Z'Gok features can be seen in the Gasshia such as triple claws on the hands, its mono-eye track, the reactor-vents in the chest, or the design of its feet. Among the primary differences is the removal of the hydrojet thrusters needed for underwater propulsion and replacing them with standard rocket thrusters for movement in space. Additionally because the Gasshia is not an aquatic design, so it cannot utilize the ocean as a heat sink like the Z'Gok. This had required the designers to reduce the size and power of the fusion reactor and add a coolant system.

With the reduction in the power plant the Gasshia no longer had the power to utilize beam weapons like its Z-Gok predecessor, however it still retains the multiple missile launchers in its design. In place of the beam of the beam weapons the Gasshia uses a hammergun, a rifle weapon that launches a dense hammer, a design inspired by the RX-78-2 Gundam's Gundam hammer/hyper hammer. The Gasshia could also be equipped with a high explosive cracker grenade.

To convert the Z'Gok's aquatic design into the space-faring Gasshia, Pezun seems to have incorporated design features from previous Zeon mobile suits such as the Zaku, as seen in the external power pipes seen on the chest.

History

In the late stages of the One Year War, the Principality of Zeon started their highly classified "Pezun Project" to develop high powered mobile suits equipped with unique weapons like beam rifles at the Space Fortress Pezun. One of the mobile suits developed at the base was the MS-13 Gasshia. It was strongly based on the design of the MSM-07 Z'Gok, and could be considered a space version of the Z'Gok. It had anti-ground sensors (in the shape of a V) mounted on its back.

When the Federation began its operation to retake the Space Fortress Pezun in December of UC 0079, the forces there gathered up. Among them were some MS-17 Galbaldy Alphas, MS-10 Pezun Dowadges, MS-12 Gigans, and a few Gasshias, with one being piloted by Daru. The base was retaken, and the prototypes of all mobile suits developed there were either destroyed or captured.
