Technology & Combat Characteristics
Based on data taken from the Principality of Zeon's YMS-15 Gyan, the MS-15K Gyan Kai could be considered a prototype for the later AMX-104 R-Jarja. Keeping with the Gyan's theme of powerful close combat, the Gyan Kai's primary weapon was a lance-like sword. When in use, the guards on either side of its blade would spread out, revealing a set of beam emitters lining the blade. This gave the Gyan Kai's melee attacks extra weight, allowing it to hit harder. Its only other weapon was a shield which, like the original Gyan, was packed full of myriad needle missile launchers.
- Large Beam Sword
- A lance-like physical sword, it's side guards expand to reveal beam blade emitters along the blade similarly to the YMS-15E Gyan Eos' Beam Bayonet.
- Needle Missile Shield
- A shield based on the original Gyan's Shield. It is loaded with Needle Missiles although it lacks the original's hide bombs. The MS-15B Gyan High Mobility Type uses a similar shield as well.
- Needle Missile
- The shield stores many small missiles. Due to their small size, the needle missiles are not very powerful and are mainly used to restrain enemy's movement or for intimidation purposes. These missiles can however still be quite deadly when fired in massed volleys.
Though the Gyan Kai's performance was actually superior to the AMX-107 Bawoo, which was developed simultaneously, the Gyan Kai's limited focus and difficulty of control caused it to be passed over for mass production.
While this upgraded model never saw combat, its design inspired the Neo Zeon's prototype AMX-104 R-Jarja.
