Template:Infobox/Mobile Weapon Ver.2 The MSA-004 Nemo II is a mobile suit from Z-MSV (Zeta Gundam Mobile Suit Variations).

Technology and Combat Characteristics

The MSA-004 Nemo II is a prototype mobile suit that is based off the Anti Earth Union Group's successful MSA-003 Nemo. The new Nemo II internal frame and external armor is based off the MSA-003 Nemo but incorporates minor modifications to improve performance. Technologically the Nemo II features a superior sensor range, an improved thruster assembly allowing it to hold more fuel and achieve greater thrust, and incorporates a more powerful Minovsky ultracompact fusion reactor.

Though technologically powerful the purpose of the MSA-004 Nemo II is to serve as a testbed for the even more powerful MSA-004K Nemo III.

Armaments

  • 60mm Vulcan Gun
A standard armament of the mobile suits that are descended from the Earth Federation Forces's RX series. These head mounted shell firing weapons have a high-rate of fire, but have little power and are generally ineffective against MS; however, they can damage lightly armored areas like the sensors, or small, fast moving, lightly armored targets such as missiles or small vehicles.
  • Beam Saber
The standard close range armament for most Federation mobile suits. The beam saber is a small cylindrical device held in the mobile suit's hands when operated and is powered by an energy capacitor that is recharged from special racks. The beam saber emits a blade of plasma contained by an I-Field and is capable of cutting through almost any metal that has not been treated with anti-beam coating. The Nemo II a pair of beam sabers which are stored on the recharge rack of the rear-waist armor.
  • Beam Rifle
The Nemo II carries a beam rifle powered by a rechargeable E-Caps as its main weapon. The particle beam fired from a beam rifle can penetrate almost any armor that has not been treated with specific counter-measures.
  • Shield
A basic optional arm-mounted defense armament for many MS, the shield is a thick sheet of armor designed to take severe punishment that would normally destroy a mobile suit. Since the introduction of beam weaponry, shields have been treated with an anti-beam coating allowing it to withstand several beam shots before the coating wears off. A shield can be equipped to either arm of the Nemo II in order to increase defense against both beam and physical attacks.

History

In the year UC 0087 the Gryps Conflict initiated between the Anti Earth Union Group and the Earth Federation's Titans special forces. During the Conflict military contractor Anaheim Electronics supplied the AEUG with the MSA-003 Nemo mobile suit to replace the aging RMS-179 GM II mobile suits that had served as their mainstay mobile suit force. The MSA-003 Nemo would prove to be a powerful mobile suit that surpassed the Earth Federation's GM II, RMS-106 Hizack, and RMS-117 Galbaldy Beta mobile suits. While the Nemo managed to compete on equal footing with the RMS-108 Marasai, the Titans however would continually field more advanced prototype machines that far surpassed and devastated the AEUG's mobile suit forces.

There was a need for the AEUG to be supplied with more powerful mobile suits, so Anaheim Electronics took their MSA-003 Nemo design back to the drawing board and sought to improve it. The first new design was the MSA-004 Nemo II, a general purpose mobile suit much like the original Nemo but possessing superior performance. However despite its excellent performance it was decided that the Nemo II was not powerful enough, and was instead used to develop the even more powerful MSA-004K Nemo III.
