Technology & Combat Characteristics
Edit
The armament of the Ootsukigata is largely the same as the one used on the standard MVF-M11C Murasame, although it isn't equipped with the missile launchers. Instead its armament includes a high-energy long-range beam cannon. This allows it to serve in an artillery support role, while still retaining the close and mid-range capabilities of the Murasame. Extra thrusters are incorporated into the shield an leg units and are used to maneuver in the lower atmosphere. The thrusters also act as heat sinks. Revised system algorithms in the MVF-M12A's AI, combined with overhauled communication systems, allows for improved coordination with the MBF-M1A M1A Astray.

- The special feature is a dedicated targeting sensor, allowing the pilot to better aim over great distances when using the long-range weapon. It allows for the tracking of up to 128 targets and lock onto 32 targets.
- Cooling System
- The cooling system which is mounted in place of the underside missile launchers and used to cool down the powerful long-range weapon more quickly after it was used.
History
Edit
A variation of the standard Murasame produced by Orb, the Ootsukigata was designed for long-range support in battles. Both its frame and armament are nearly the same as the one used on the normal unit, which makes it easier to convert a Murasame into an Ootsukigata. This machine is intended to operate as a team with the MBF-M1A M1A Astray, with the MVF-M12A acting as fire-support for the M1A Astray. Most of the MVF-M12A are painted light blue to distinguish them from their Murasame counterparts. The exact number of Ootsukigata units being produced is unknown, although at least three are known to be built. A reserve force equipped with Ootsukigata units were stationed at the lunar city of Copernicus. They were later recalled to active duty and assigned to the Izumo-class battleships Tsukyomi and Susanoo.
These three units were present in the final battle against Messiah , where one of them engaged and destroyed a ZGMF-X3000Q Providence ZAKU.
