  • Colony Builder

The Magallanica is a space colony builder structure that appears in the novel Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn.

Also called "The snail", The Magallanica colony builder structure was attached to the tip of the Rokuro, whose overall length was 6500 meters with a diameter of 1600 meters. The rear of the structure is equipped with a nuclear pulse engine, and self-navigation is possible. The Rokuro is a colony builder unit, It’s length is just under 10 kilometers and is shaped like a teacup and a pencil cap. Its role is to build the inner and outer walls of the colony simultaneously. The colony is constructed while the unit slides backwards where it is then separated upon completion. The entrance at the tip is where materials are brought in and constructed. The crew quarters are also located here. The Vist Foundation’s extravagant mansion is located in the Magallanica’s residential district, and is the home of Cardeas Vist.

In UC 0096.04.07, while docked at the manufacturing colony Industrial 7, the Magallanica was the location where the Laplace box transaction (which involved the Earth Federation Forces, Anaheim Electronics, the Vist Foundation and the Sleeves) took place, leading to the accidental outbreak of a battle within the colony of Industrial 7.

In the novel, When Laplace's Box was "unlocked" by Banagher Links and Audrey Burne, the Magallanica separated from Industrial 7 to fulfill its original purpose: to transform into a massive space fortress equipped with advanced communications systems capable of transmitting messages over the whole of Earth. This form of the Magallanica was larger than the Jupitris-class transport vessels. The resulting transformation changed the external appearance of the Magallanica to that of a supposed space "capital city" of the new government that would have possibly been formed with the opening of the Box, in accordance with Syam Vist's vision. It is unknown if the Magallanica achieved its intended purpose after the events of the novel.

  • Magallanica or Magellanica translates into "the land of Magellan".
  • Rokuro is the Japanese word for a potter’s wheel.
