  • I guess it is round 3 of the Wing Zero TV/EW discussion page, huh?

I'm probably gonna sound like a broken record there, but why don't we split the pages for the GoL parts of the AC era MSs?

Look at the Wing Zero page, and tell me it isn't a mess. I mean, okay. The AC MS canon is a mess as well. But still. It doesn't look good. At all.

We could make this a lot better-looking by splitting the pages into the regular TV/OVA canon and the GoL canon.

Proto Zero is a thing. The Wing Zero EW's wings being the Tallgeese Flugel's wings is a thing. Proto Zero being (self-)destroyed then rebuilt into the EW design Zero is a thing. All in its own canon.

If we made those pages, then why can't we make GoL pages for the AC MSs? Just atleast to make everything a bit more clean?

  • Hi, um, pleasure to meet you!

I don't mean to be a bother, but the image you uploaded for Donahue's Gelgoog Ground Type isn't exactly... accurate to any other source I'm aware of.  It lacks the antenna, emblems, and white stripes the custom painted MS is known for.

I mean, there are eight other pictures of Vische Donahue's Gelgoog on the page that contradict the new profile image you posted!

    • I actually didn't get angry until yesterday. I check your contribution to see how far you're at talking to other mod about posting "better image". Then I see everything, you don't talk to other mod, you make a thread to make me sound like petty guy, you even revert the image, clearly you're just mess with me. And all of your activity on this wiki is chit-chat to boost (not fault by itself).

Really, I'll be more happy and change my opinion if you're going to prove that you can make meaningful contribution, but it look like that won't happen.

    • Please, calm down and let me explain the best I can.

I'm a very insecure person.  I've been watching the wiki for a very long time- and have always wanted to contribute... but as the origin of the series is in Japan and I live in the US, I feel like there's not much I can do.  People upload official art before I can get to it, and as a person who only reads/writes English there's not much I can do to translate profiles and new information.

Since my initial suggestion in the first post of this conversation I've been going through the thousands of images on my computer trying to find a picture of Donahue's Gelgoog thats the most appropriate.  I've recently moved my files around, so it was difficult for me too sort through my images.

Eventually I gave up and went to see if I could find a better image online from official sources.  It was also pretty unfruitful; the best I could get were either the official P-Bandai HGUC promo images and the "Missing Link" image- which has part of the leg armor obscured.  I felt neither were appropriate.

Because of this (and realizing the poor quality of the image that had been uploaded before you posted your picture of Visch's new Gelgoog) I reverted it back to your image since it WAS significantly higher quality.

You were quite brash when I made my initial suggestion- and I was unsure what to do next.  I decided to make that post on the board.  Now, pardon me here, but if you READ my post, it has very little to do with you.  I did a brief recap of the situation and asked if "I" ' had behaved badly'''''- and if I should continue doing anything on the site.

Shortly afterwards you posted that I had no idea what you were going through, and I realized you were probably going through something.  I felt stupid for making the forum post, so I removed it.  I hoped that was the end of it.

Then you looked at my contributions and got angry again.  I was so ashamed of myself.  You were right but I felt helpless.  I couldn't find a replacement image.  While I did remove that post, the fact is I still wrote it.  I suffer from severe depression- and as I've pointed out many times, I have nothing but respect for you... and for me to make you that angry broke me.

I swear to high heaven I'm not trying to troll you. I have nothing but respect for you.  In fact while my contributions on this wiki are few,  I have made lots of contributions on other wikis- for a VERY long time I was extremely active on WoWwiki (before I moved to Wowpedia) and if you click my contributions there, I've made over a thousand including images, lore, NPC information and quests..

So I didn't just create this profile just to troll you.  I'm very, very sorry that you feel this way.  Please, just understand I went in this with the best intentions... even though I've screwed everything up.

  • So last week User:HalfMoonFenrir created the Space Attack Force article, which I've since expanded with information sourced from the archived GundamOfficial site. Got me thinking we need to add more pages for the various sub-factions and how this will work with listing mecha operated by and characters affiliated with a specific faction. So my idea is, only include the smallest faction in their operator (if mecha) or affiliation (if character) parameter, unless there's a good in-story reason why not (promotion, dissolution of the faction etc.) If all subfactions of faction A use a particular suit (including variants), only then will said suit be listed under faction A.

I've just created Earth Attack Force and will add Kycilia Zabi's Mobile Assault Force soon.

Please contribute further to discussion here.

  • I've added a lot of trivia notations to the various pages detailing how various units, characters, organizations, and series specific to Gundam are depicted in the above mentioned game series. If possible, I would like my contributions to be examined to make sure I have adhered to the manual of style, which I have done my best to do, but I'd appreciate another opinion. I've also tried to summarize some things as concisely as possible (not an easy task for some of the SRW trivia), would like to make sure my contributions have been appropriate.

  • I've been trying to fix the Episode section on the Victory Gundam page, but I keep running into an issue where the list stops at episode 50 and adds "... further results" at the bottom instead of the last episode. I think this may involve the episode/list template being formatted to list 50 episodes since no other series goes past 50, but I may be wrong since I can't seem to fix it. Would you be able to help me with this?

  • I have to say, I don't see how it's false information to add Mu La Flaga as a love interest on Natarle's infobox, given what's already in the article. Granted, I never saw any evidence of it in the show, and the Wiki seems to have always listed information from side video games and SRW in the trivia section, but the fact that she "developed feelings for Mu La Flaga [...] and listened to her heart" in her final moments lends it a degree of canon that should either be reflected in the article or taken out of the personality section entirely. That's all I was trying to do.

    • I just removed the part about "[...]developed feelings for Mu La Flaga". Thank you for inform. "listened to her heart in her final moments" is about how she decide to act against Azrael's order.

  • The comment box for the edit did not have sufficent space for the link. Anyway as i noted, the picture of the twin mace and landmace used by Barbatos Lupus Rex is likely promotion for the option set. Such pictures are present in all S2 kits, they can be hit or miss in terms of whether the MS in question uses the weapon. • While American Gundam fans like to translate 木馬 to "wooden horse" it is more properly translated to "rocking horse," or "wooden rocking horse" if you want to be truely pedantic. For reference compare 木馬[1], rocking horse[2], and wooden horse[3]. Also, please don't edit people's signatures. That's pretty brazen. (On your own wall, however, feel free)

      1. On signature editing, it's pure accident. Somehow you bold the whole text on that page and the wikicode look messy.
      2. The thing is that's good chance that the name is referrence to not just any wooden horse but the wikipedia:Trojan Horse which made of wood but not rocking.

    • Oh dear! I didn't realize that had happened. Thank for explaining. 💖

Regarding mokuba, the complication is that, in Japan, all wooden horses are rocking horses. While there are surely non-wooden rocking horses, there aren't non-rocking wooden horses. That is why I favored the translation, rocking horse—in America there are wooden horses which are not rocking horses. To my ears, "wooden horse" sounds like a weird thing to call a ship, which is probably why translators use "Trojan Horse." This doesn't mean you are wrong, though.

I've since searched "Why is White Base called mokuba?" in Japanese. Most people answer to the effect of, "Naturally, soldiers wouldn't have known the name of their enemy's new tech." The remaining answers, however, were more illuminating. The term mokuba seems to have been chosen specifically because it has multiple meanings.

The Trojan Horse comparison comes up, as it was a battleship that they attempted to pass off as a civilian supply ship. Personally, I don't know why the Federation would think that would work. Who would build a crazy-looking new-model civilian supply ship in the middle of a war?

A second reason given is because—like a rocking horse—children ride on it. The term disparages the WB crew as young and inexperienced in a way that is funny to the Zeonic forces.

The third and official reason comes from Sunrise's Gundam Fact File and is disappointingly unhelpful. "Being shaped like a pegasus with limbs stretched forward and backward, the Principality of Zeon called it by the codename Mokuba." (translated) They might as well have said, "Both pegasuses and mokuba are horse-like." 🙄 I would again, just point out that the Federation glorifies the ship by comparing it to a pegasus and Zeon denigrates it by comparing it to a child's toy.

None of this leads to a clear few-word resolution, but could make for an interesting trivia section if written better than the above.

    • Also, I didn't realize that sigs were superfluous on personal talk pages. It seems Wikia simplify by formatting other talk pages like these.
