Personality & Character

Meyrin is a introverted-type girl. While she's capable of conversation amongst the crew and friends, she keeps her strongest emotions and feelings to herself. While keeping an upbeat personality in front of people, her real feelings emerge as a dissatisfied person when they're not looking. There's limited evidence to suggest she's suffering from depression; she seems to take things personal and doesn't want to reveal that aspect of herself to people, not even to her own sister.

Perhaps due to her own personal romantic feelings with Athrun Zala, she was able to be more honest with herself with him. Meyrin revealed her fears and insecurities all to Athrun. So in love with Athrun, Meyrin's loyalties as a PLANT soldier was easily swayed by Athrun's decision to defect with the Clyne Faction.

Skills & Abilities

Meyrin is the youngest member of the bridge crew, but she supervises the ship's mobile suits and communications. Her greatest asset is multi-tasking in tactical coordination. She was trained to delegate information between the bridge, the MS pilots, communications between Minerva crew members for tactical coordination, and their complex launching procedures with professional efficiency. As a soldier, she was trained to use firearms and a limited degree of unarmed combat. As a coordinator, she's physically and mentally more capable than a natural human; it's unknown the depth of her abilities.

History

Early Days

Meyrin was born with her sister, Lunamaria, on one of the PLANT colonies and they both entered ZAFT. Lunamaria became a red coat mobile suit pilot, while Meyrin became the CIC officer. Both of them became stationed on the newly developed battleship Minerva from its launch through the Second Bloody Valentine War.

Second Bloody Valentine War

Helping Athrun

Escape Pursuit

When Athrun was being chased through the Gibraltar military base, framed for being a traitor, it was Meyrin who helped Athrun escape from the guards by faking a shower to the point of answering the door wrapped in a towel, hacking the base security, setting off a false alarm, and then driving Athrun to a nearby hangar so he could hijack a Mobile Suit to escape. Although she had not originally intended to go with Athrun, she was forced to leave with him when the pair was discovered by Rey Za Burrel. Subsequently, they were shot down by Shinn Asuka during their escape. Luckily they both survived and were recovered by Ledonir Kisaka, who was posing as an Alliance officer and brought them to the Archangel.

Staying with Athrun

Meyrin suffered only minor injuries and a fever because Athrun shielded her as noted by Kira. After healing, she could often be seen helping Athrun walk on the Archangel. Before the Battle of Onogoro, Athrun tells Meyrin to leave the Archangel out of concern for her safety, but Meyrin refuses assuring him that she'd be fine and she fell on him crying on his shoulder then Athrun holds her and allows her to stay and they both sit down on the Archangel's CIC for most of the battle. When Lacus Clyne arrives with Kira and the Strike Freedom in the middle of the battle, she helps him to the hangar where Lacus gives Athrun the ZGMF-X19A Infinite Justice. After Athrun tears his wounds open fighting Shinn and the ZGMF-X42S Destiny she takes care of Athrun until he's finally well again, during which they grow closer. When the Archangel lands in Copernicus she, Kira, Athrun, and Lacus go on a intel gathering mission under the guise of a shopping trip, ultimately going to help protect Lacus when they knowingly walk into a trap set by Meer Campbell's bodyguards.

Battle of Station One

Shortly after Meyrin transfers to the Eternal with Kira and Athrun, becoming its CIC Officer just before the Battle of Station One, during which she convinces Lunamaria to cease her attacks on the Eternal, only to focus her hatred on Athrun for taking her sister. Her services on the Eternal continue through the final battle to destroy Requiem. She is seen accompanying Athrun at the Orb Memorial in Gundam SEED Destiny Final Plus.

Aftermath

Overall, Meyrin's future is left to speculation. Her fate is unknown as she defected to the Clyne Faction and deemed a traitor to PLANT. It's unclear was Meyrin ever forgiven for her actions as a Minerva crew member aiding and abetting Athrun. No investigation nor tribunal was proceeded against her; she has yet to return to PLANT. It's presumed by most her decision to not return to PLANT is due to her feelings with Athrun, happily siding with him in his endeavors; it was never clearly defined of the full nature of their relationship as well. Athrun is still romantically linked to Cagalli Yula Athha and he never once mentioned accepting Meyrin as a girlfriend.
