Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin - On the Eve (機動戦士ガンダムTHE ORIGIN その前夜?) is a side-story to the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin manga, written and illustrated by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko it was originally published and released in the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin: Official Guidebook in 2004 and was later included in volume VII of the Aizouban as a "special contribution". It is set just before the events of Activation, Section I.

Plot

The SCV-70 White Base approaches the colony of Noa at Side 7 as berths rotate around the docking bay. Solar panels make clicking noises as they peel off. Elementary school is over for the day and a three boys discuss a new multiplayer attack game called "Genocide Star", one of which has beaten level 2 already. At a table, Katz is helping Kikka learn subtraction using candies and popsicles but Kikka cannot figure out the answer so she throws them on the floor in a tantrum. The three boys approach the two and bully Katz, luckily Letz approaches and punches one of the boys in the face. The boys recognize Letz as the "bad kid" who's been skipping class. When Kikka's mother arrives in her car, she shares the same sentiment and doesn't want Kikka to play with boys like Letz, despite Kikka telling her that he punched a bully in the face.

Fraw Bow, the prefect from the ninth grade, notices Letz and scolds Letz for skipping class as well as insultingly calling her "Aunt Bow" (ボウおばさん Bō Obasan?). Fraw tells Letz that his dad, a soldier, would be sad if came home to find him like that. Katz invites Letz over to his house as Katz's mother is at work, he even offers to make potato salad or curry which impresses Fraw. It is now night and has Fraw arrived back at her house. Her grandfather mentions that Letz's father was killed in action, Fraw also knows that Letz's mother also recently passed away, only no one has the heart to tell him. Fraw then rushes off somewhere, and her relatives correctly assume her destination to be The Rays' house.

Fraw arrives at Amuro Ray's house to see him fixing Haro. Despite it being night, the meal Fraw just delivered to Amuro is his breakfast. Fraw requests Amuro to drive her to the docking bay the next morning.
