Neo Zeon

Neo Zeon is a term given to two seperate armed uprisings involving forces from the old Principality of Zeon. These uprisings occured at two different times in the Universal Century continuity, once just after the defeat of the Titans and another formed six years after the defeat of the first Neo Zeon movement.
The First Neo Zeon
The first Neo Zeon movement traces its roots back to the collapse of the Principality of Zeon. For various reasons some 30,000 political refugees who could not, and in some cases would not, accept the newly recreated Republic of Zeon fled from the Earth Sphere to the Asteroid Axis, where these people lived from roughly UC 0082 till about UC 0087. The original group was lead by Dolze Zabi's wife, who at her husbands request, left Solomon with their baby and returned to Side 3. She became the leader of the refugees due to her husbands position within the old Principality, but she died of an illness not long after arriving at Axis. This led to internal squabbling and fighting amongst the refugees over who would lead them. Around this time Char Aznable, who had come with the refugees to Axis, suggested making Zena's daughter Minava Loa Zabi the leader of the group. This pleased the refugees, and with there blessing she was installed as the leader of the group, with Haman Karn acting as her leader until the child could assume the role. The refugees then began a long process of turning Axis into a military fortress, with the full intent of returning to the earth sphere to retake Side 3.
These refugees, collectively known as the Axis Zeon did return to the earth sphere, and their timing could not have been better: They had arrived at a time when the Earth Federation was in the midst of a full scale civil war. Haman received emissaries from both the Titans and the Anti Earth Union Group, and pledged to help both in there struggle against the other; however her true goal was to play both sides against each other. Shortly after the conclusion of the civil war Haman Karn made her move. The Axis Zeon adopted the name Neo Zeon try seizing control of the Space Colonies one after another but failed due to the federation forces mostly undamaged by the civil war stop them. but than they saw the defenses of the Africa where Dakar was weak. with the help of Zeon forces still there they could overrun north Africa where Dakar was and they could make the federation give them side 3.
The Second Neo Zeon
In UC 0093, Char Aznable came out of self imposed hiding with a declaration that he now commanded his own Neo Zeon movement. Unlike Haman Karn's Neo Zeon, which sought to restore the Pricipality of Zeon, Char Aznable's Neo Zeon was aimed at completing the migration of the remaining humans on earth to space. This Neo Zeon movement began with the battle for fith lune, which the Neo Zeon won, and the result was the collision of the astroid onto the earth. Fith Luna was not big enough to cause the ice age Char wanted, so he needed to find another astoid he could use. During negotiations with the Federation Char purchased Axis, and attempted to collide it with the earth, however his plan failed after a determined Londo Bell unit split the rock in two, causing it to miss earth entirely. Char Aznable's loss of the 2nd Neo Zeon war effectily ended the Neo Zeon movement.
