The New Millenium Series is a line of Mobile Suits created by ZAFT after the First Alliance-PLANT War and used in the Second Alliance-PLANT War.
History
ZAFT created the New Millenium Series of MS to cope with the technological and numerical restrictions placed on the superpowers as part of the Junius Seven Treaty. To determine the first mobile suit in the series, a competition was held and three designs participated: the ZGMF-1000 ZAKU Warrior of the ZAFT Armed Keeper of Unity (ZAKU) series, the initial design of ZGMF-X2000 GOUF Ignited and the ZGMF-XX09T DOM Trooper Original Spec Type. Eventually, the ZAKU Warrior was chosen, but the GOUF Ignited was refined and later put into mass production and was mainly used by commander and elite/ace pilots, while the DOM was modified by Terminal and built as the ZGMF-XX09T DOM Trooper.
Trivia & Notes
- The Mobile Suits of the New Millenium Series are obvious homages to Mobile Suits used by the Principality of Zeon in the original Mobile Suit Gundam.
- ZAFT Armed Keeper of Unity is based on the MS-06 Zaku II.
- Guardian Of Unity Forerunner is based on the MS-07 Gouf.
- Dauntless Obliterator Magnificent is based on the MS-09B Dom.
