Lightly armoured and armed, these vessels are used to patrol and secure coastal areas and secure harbors. In the anime [[After War Gundam X]], patrol boats are used by both civilians and private nations to secure their waterways. One such nation that employed a large number of such ships was that of [[After War locations|Saints Island]]. When the [[Freeden]] entered the territorial waters of Saints Island, it was met by several patrol boats and brought to a stop for inspection.
