The RGM-79Q GM Quel was the first mass-produced mobile suit of the Titans. It was only seen at the very end of Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory and was featured in Advance of Zeta: The Flag of Titans.

Technology & Combat Characteristics
Edit
With the Delaz Fleet's Operation Stardust a partial success, the newly formed Titans taskforce needed mobile suits to combat against any remaining Zeon holdouts with similar capabilities. However, with no new mobile suit technologies available, the Titans were forced to make due with modified mobile suits left over from the Delaz Conflict. One of these were known as the GM Quel. Though it had a different name than the RGM-79N GM Custom, its only true differences were its shoulder design, additional sensors near the feet, as well as its dark purple and navy blue repaint of the original unit's pale grey and medium-grey colour scheme. This might have been so the mobile suit was harder to identify in space.

History
Edit
The GM Quel was so similarly armed that one of the few difference was the characteristic black-and-blue paint scheme used by the Titans on several of their mobile suits. Another difference was that the GM Quel was designed for use in colonies, whereas most mobile suits were designed for use on Earth or in space. In addition, the GM Quel featured a new arm design that would later evolve into the movable frame concept utilized by the RX-178 Gundam Mk-II. Over time, the GM Quel became outdated and was replaced by newer designs, such as the RMS-179/RGM-79R GM II and the RX-178 Gundam Mk-II.
