RGM-79 GM (Thunderbolt Ver.)

Technology & Combat Characteristics

The RGM-79 GM is the standard mass production mobile suit of the Federation Forces. Although it appears to be a standard issue model, the lower part of the body differs from that of the original GM. Another particular feature is the verniers for attitude control the unit is equipped with. The circular parts on either side of the head are equipped with four attitude control verniers each in addition to sensors on the left and right of the head. The large backpack is reminiscent of modern day life support systems for spacesuits. The unit's joints and backpack’s exterior are protected by a cloth-like material. The backpack is also equipped with two sub arms. In addition to being used to hold shields for defense, the sub arms are also able to retrieve spare weapons and ammunition equipped in spots the main arms are unable to reach.

Core Block System: A central block located in the torso, it houses the mobile suit's cockpit, control systems and main power source. The core block can be ejected in case of emergency and transforms into an emergency pod.
