Terminal is a faction introduced in the anime Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny.
Overview[]
Terminal was a non-governmental intelligence organization with agents deployed across the world and the PLANT Colonies. The organization had excellent information-gathering capabilities and used its information network to support the Three Ships Alliance and the construction facility called "The Factory", with which it has ties.
History[]
Established after the First Alliance-PLANT War by members of the Clyne Faction together with other like-minded Coordinators and Naturals, the Terminal works towards the peaceful co-existence of Coordinators and Naturals. To achieve this goal, it has agents across the world and the PLANTs to collect intelligence. With the Clyne Faction's leader, Lacus Clyne, as a central member, the Terminal also has links to Clyne Faction sympathizers/supporters within the PLANT and ZAFT leadership, giving it access to classified information and mobile suit technology.
Terminal is mindful that a second war between the Earth Alliance and PLANT is still possible and sees the need for a third faction to stop such a conflict if it does happen. To that end, it provides intelligence and supplies to the Eternal and Archangel, and even assisted in the development of new mobile suits based on the data and technology stolen from ZAFT. These new machines were constructed in the facility known as "The Factory", resulting in the birth of three ZGMF-XX09T DOM Trooper units, ZGMF-X19A ∞ Justice Gundam and the ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom Gundam.
The organization's worries eventually came true with the outbreak of the Second Alliance-PLANT War following the "Break The World" Incident. As the war escalated, the Terminal provided various assistances to the activities of the space-based Eternal and earth-based Archangel, such as updating each ship's movements to the other. Eventually, the DOM Troopers, ∞ Justice Gundam and the Strike Freedom Gundam were put into action by the two ships.[1][2] The organization also provided additional battleships and mobile suits, originating from defected Earth Alliance and ZAFT force members, to support the Three Ships Alliance in their quest to stop the conflict.[3] Thus, Terminal played a critical role in ending the second war.
