Terminal is a non-governmental organization appearing in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny that exchanges information with each respective faction. It has agents deployed across both the world and the PLANT's, with information-gathering capabilities exceeding those of national government information agencies. The organization uses its information network to support the Three Ships Alliance and the construction facility called "The Factory", with which it has ties to.
History
Established after the First Bloody Valentine War, remaining members of the Three Ships Alliance who did not choose to return to Orb, reformed into a military and political non-government organization, known as Terminal. Spawned for the same reasons as the Alliance - to achieve and maintain peace and stability between Coordinators and Naturals - the organization's primary purpose is to establish presence both across the entire Earth Sphere and the PLANT Sponsored Nations, and perform covert information gathering and retrieval. With the Clyne Faction as its primary foundation, this group acquired strength in both personel and technology by incorporating defected Earth Alliance and ZAFT officers, as well as receiving external backing from the Orb Union. The official figurehead of the organization, although not directly leading it, was chosen to be Lacus Clyne.
During this post-war peace, along with integrating key members into active factions, the organization conducted improvements in technology in secret. They also used this time to secretly work on new mobile suits aboard the Eternal. By attaining confidential blueprints and specifications of specific Mobile Suits from ZAFT, the organization tasked their construction facility "The Factory" with analyzing, re-engineering, and/or constructing these suits.
However, after the Break the World incident and the emergence of the Second Bloody Valentine War, Terminal and "The Factory" enacted to work underground in silence while its members continuously extracted information and delivering it back to the organization. As the war proceeded to escalate, Lacus Clyne decided to return to the organization, while escorted by Andrew Waltfeld. Thus, the Eternal becomes the primary hub of Terminal, focusing on targeted information retrieval regarding the situations within the PLANTs, within ZAFT, and ultimately Gilbert Durandal's true intentions regarding the war and his campaigns. During this time, the organization unveils, not only a customed-colored ZGMF-X88S Gaia Gundam for Andrew Waltfeld, but also the completion of 5 new mobile suits: three mass-production model ZGMF-XX09T DOM Trooper derived from rejected ZAFT designs; and the ZGMF-X19A ∞ Justice Gundam and the ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom Gundam, both re-engineered and improved according to the specifications of their predecessors.
The escalation of the war with the invasion of Orb, the firing of the Requiem Superweapon, along with the Eternal being visually compromised by ZAFT, prompted Terminal to pursue active involvement in the war by re-aligning itself again with the Three Ships Alliance. The mass force created by the alliance aided in both the destruction of Requiem and the Messiah space fortress, bringing an end to the conflicts of the Second Bloody Valentine War.
