Meer visits the troops at Diocuia's port for a morale-building concert. The Minerva's pilots are greeted by FAITH member Heine Westenfluss, who escorts them to Chairman Durandal. Durandal reveals ZAFT is fighting a war against the Logos, a secret organization who create wars for profit.
The Minerva destroyed the Earth Alliance’s Gulnahan base and arrives at ZAFT’s base at the coastal city Diocuia along the Black Sea. There, Lacus Clyne’s concert, visiting military camps, is about to begin. The fake Lacus, Meer, is greeted on stage by thunderous cheers. Athrun watches the appearance and is shocked to see Meer. Backstage, Talia unexpectedly sees Chairman Durandal.
Talia tries to find out Durandal’s intent of coming to Earth at a time like this but Durandal evades the question. He greets Shinn and the pilots on the Minerva and thanks them for their hard work. As the conversation progresses, the topic gradually shifts from the current situation to the war itself. Durandal says that there are those who wish for war from the economy’s standpoint. Blue Cosmos’ parent body LOGOS views war as an industry, a profitable business, and they control the world from behind the scene. Shinn and the pilots are shocked with this facet of war, which have never even crossed their minds.
Meer joins after the concert and rejoice at seeing Athrun again. To Athrun’s annoyed face, Durandal asks if he knows the whereabouts of the Archangel. Durandal says that he is looking for the real Lacus. He tells Athrun to contact him if he hears from her.
