  • Here's what I think. I shared with Wing Zero Alpha yesterday on Fanfiction.net when I was sharing my thoughts on what I'd do with Wing if and when I wrote my Universal Century story and finished it.

"In the final years of the Anno Domini era, the wealthy and powerful industrialists and politicians of those days began to purchase titles of nobility at a higher rate than today which eventually legitimized under new international laws and resulted in the return of aristocracy and the birth of new countries such as the Kingdom of Sanc under the royal family that would refer to themselves as the Peacecrafts. Just before plans for permanent space stations to be established in Earth orbit started to develop, a group of aristocrats that make their fortune and influence around militarization and conflict, join together to instigate short-lived, but profitable conflicts that actually brought Rome (then a even more significant city to the world than today) to the ground (Gundam did burn Berlin and turned Sydney into a crater, so I think it's alright as long as I say I don't mean any offense to the Italians), hence the name "Romefeller". Over the decades into the After Colony period, the Foundation and it's personal protection/infiltration force called OZ wield a controlling influence in the Earth Sphere economy and the Alliance power structure that lasts as long as the Romefeller nobles as satisfied by their monopoly until the rise of the Catalonia family in their secret society."

The rest goes on how I'd make Duke Dermail an even more dangerous and heartless character in canon, but I'll save that for another time.

    • I suppose I was speaking from a modern day perspective compared to the 1990s.

    • Or I guess it all could just be an alternate timeline period like Code Geass.

    • I just thought it would be interesting to talk about.

    • Dude, literally EVERY Gundam timeline except 00 is an alternate timeline.

Also, the Romefeller Foundation was apparently founded on the principles of protecting the beauty of nature and safeguarding ancient traditions. Though that turned into pure self-interest somewhere down the line.

From what I understand, a lot of the Gundam timelines are our distant futures with different calendars.

I don't know about that. What's the source?

I like asking hard questions and I was speaking from a modern day point of view.

00 is as alternate as every other timeline. Using the same calendar as the real world doesn't change that. Every other timeline changed from AD/CE to what they're using at some point in the past.

    • Observer Supreme, pm me your contact info and I'll explain it more clearly, but yes you have pieced together some of the parts correctly.

You can tell me here instead of by email. It sounds less risky that way. Honestly, I'm kind of having doubts about writing Gundam or Code Geass fanfiction stories. They are both interesting, but I'm busy as is with anime like One Piece and the like.

    • Fair enough.

Romefeller = Rokefeller.   It's a Japanese analogue for powerful banking companies that have supposedly ran the World since 1800  (funded both sides of Napoleonic Wars, WW1, and WW2)

Biggest family, or rather the wealthiest, is actually Rothschilds and not Rokefeller, but they swim at the same watering hole, so to speak. (Besides, Romefeller/ Rokefeller sounds better, more aristocratic, and I'm not surprised someone would pick this name for the foundation instead).

It would not be surprising if either, in a time of political instability, or after the world had become globalized, or just organically as the opportunities arose ... for powerful bankers to buy titles of royalty, and establish networks that could eventually become the foundations of new nations as the old ones collapse in bankrupcy (even perhaps a bankrupcy and civil unrest organized by the potential nation founders- which wouldn't be hard to do if the new founders are entrenched in the banking community).

Lets say all of this happens in 2100 (an establishment of New World Order, new Aristocracies). Okay, so all of these Bankers have successfully claimed their control, they bought and sold millions, eventually got all the royal titles, and now they have their own nations, and bequeath these titles to their children (they establish new bloodlines and royal families).

Around this time the Romefeller foundation is officially founded, as a sort of rallying cry to keep the banking families from truly working against each other or destroying each other. They sow discord among other nations because 'they own the munition factories and supply routes'. And might even fight each other sometimes, but never 'for real'. They've probably even used their inluence to disarm many or most nukes, or maybe a nuclear war had already happened between now and 2100, and they used the event to disarm the rest. In generally what I am saying is that war becomes less destructive, and more profitable. This allows for later invention of the Gundam Suits.

So then Wing takes place in 2400, in the 300 years since, some of these royal families have left the Romefeller foundation, perhaps others have joined in, and the Colonies were created and ultimately left the governance of Earth, and  the Romefellers are worried that perhaps their vision of a New World Order that they created in the 2100s might fade away, so they create Oz. A military organization that they could use ensure the Romefellers' influence upon the world stage, and to safeguard the new way of life they have created for themselves.

So by 2400, these shady banker types have fully evolved into actual aristocrats, the type they were trying to emulate ... similar to how by 1100 AD, the "Warriors" of 600-800 AD had fully transformed into Aristocrats. Both became aristocrats due to centuries of unchanging rule. It makes sense from a historical thermodynamic sense, if human rule always becomes a sort of aristocracy after centuries of stability.

    • This would make 2205 AD the same as After Colony year 1
