Titanium Alloy/Ceramic Composite
Titanium Alloy/Ceramic Composite (チタン合金セラミック複合材 Chitan Gōkin Seramikku Fukugō-zai?) are fictional materials in the Gundam meta-verse. In the Universal Century, Titanium Alloy is used as the standard armor material for most mass-produced mobile suits (MS). It is also used in the Future Century and After Colony time lines.
During the One Year War, the Earth Federation Forces' (EFF) Project V developed Luna Titanium Alloy (later known as Gundarium) as a super-hard alloy armor which demonstrated outstanding durability and light weight. After the war, the EFF gave priority to the development of movable frame, which delayed the development of newer material armor to replace the difficult-to-produce Gundarium alloy. Hybrid armor composed of layers of titanium alloy and ceramic material was adopted as a temporary replacement for EFF MS produced after the One Year War. Titanium alloys also have the advantage of low-cost production compared to Luna Titanium Alloy, making it suitable for mass production machines (it is theorized that Titanium Alloy is physically durable as Gundarium β).
With the development of Gundarium α derivatives during the Gryps Conflict, Titanium Alloy was rarely implemented in the many transformable MS created during this time. However, during the Second Neo Zeon War Titanium Alloy saw extensive use in the mass production MS of both the Second Neo Zeon and the EFF. In U.C.0153, high-titanium alloy/neo-ceramic composite is incorporated into MS used by the Zanscare Empire.

Titanium alloys are metallic materials which contain a mixture of titanium and other chemical elements. Such alloys have very high tensile strength and toughness (even at extreme temperatures), light weight, extraordinary corrosion resistance, and ability to withstand extreme temperatures.
