The XM-XX Ghost Gundam is the titular mobile suit of the Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam: Ghost manga series.
Design & Development[]
The Ghost Gundam is the repaired form of the EMS-TC02 Phantom Gundam using spare parts for the X1 and X2, which were salvaged from a SNRI supply ship together with the XM-X0 Crossbone Gundam X-0. Anti-beam coating has been applied to the entire body with rare metal discovered from outer space exploration. This beam coating also functions as reactive armor to protect against live ammunition. The Ghost Gundam is capable of using the Phantom Light continuously through several forced cooling cartridges that are mounted like an ammunition belt.
Armaments[]
- Butterfly Buster B
- A replica of the Crossbone Gundam X-0's Butterfly Buster, although it is built with current technology which results in a higher output.
- Flame Sword
- A powerful high output beam saber which utilizes the Phantom Light. By "flushing" the I-field against a beam shield or beam saber, the Flame Sword can destroy the I-field that holds the shape of the defending weapon. It can also be used as a heat sword by heating the device without generating the beam.
- Flame Rifle
- The flame sword sheath mounted on each side of the waist was modified so it can be used as a beam rifle. This beam rifle, called a flame rifle, converges the I-field and treats it as a barrel. The trajectory of the beam is bent irregularly due to the influence of the I-field, so it is not very effective as a long-range armament . However, the unpredictable beam is also suitable for confusing enemies and opening up dense groups.
- Salvo
- The sub-thrusters across the body can function in the same way as the flame rifles when at maximum output, allowing attacks in all directions. The power is lower than a normal flame rifle. Doing so requires a cooling cartridge and a two-step forced heat dissipation. Because this use was not intended in when originally designed, using the sub thrusters in this way overheats them after one use, temporarily rendering them unusable.
- Multi-purpose Assault Weapon "Kujaku"
- A new weapon that integrates the functions of the Muramasa Blaster and the Peacock Smasher into a single weapon. It can switch between the Buster Mode for close combat and the Smasher Mode for ranged combat.
Special Equipment & Features[]
- Phantom Light
- Anti-Beam Coating
The armor of the MS is covered with rare metals dicovered by Curtix during the exploration of the outer planets, serves as the functions as a reactive armor and a beam coating for anti-live weapons. However, the coating will peel off if the impact applied is too strong or the temperature of the aircraft is too high.
- Gel gushion
A anti-G system used on the cockpit. This solution has the property that the viscosity can be freely changed by applying a weak voltage and can function as a cushion, so if the voltage is controlled according to the timing when the impact is applied, the pilot can applied from all directions. The pilot is protected by the G forces and it's possible to make maneuvers that would not be possible under normal conditions.
Operational History[]
The Phantom Gundam was repaired with spare parts from the X-1 and X-2 recovered from the supply ship, resulting in the Ghost Gundam, after it was greatly damaged while preventing a nuclear attack by the Zanscare Empire.
