The XXXG-01SRL Gundam Sandleon is a Romefeller Foundation Mobile Suit developed off of the base of the XXXG-01SR2 Gundam Sandrock Kai. It appears solely in the semi-canon one-issue comic New Mobile Report Gundam Wing Sidestory: Tiel's Impulse.
Technology & Combat Characteristics
The XXXG-01SRL Gundam Sandleon, a modified version of the XXXG-01SR Gundam Sandrock developed in secret by the Romefeller's at their Colony X-18722 plant. Sandleon retained much of the original's focus, specializing in close combat, it sported heavy armor and unique close combat weapons. Other than minor aesthetic differences, one of the most noticeable changes was to the Sandrock's distinctive weapons, the Heat Shotels. Sandleon reversed the concept: Its main weapons, The Hi-Cold Shotels mounted on the forearms, could reach Absolute Zero (- 273.15 Centigrade), instantly freezing and shattering practically anything they touched. Supplementing these weapons were a set of standard vulcan guns and a pair of homing missiles similar to those equipped on the original Sandrock.
- Vulcan Gun
- Weak shell firing weapons mounted within the head, primarily used to shoot down incoming missiles.
- Homing Missile
- Mounted within the clavicle section of the Sandleon, they are fired towards an enemy with a lock-on.
- Hi-Cold Shotel
- The primary weapons of the Sandleon, they are curved blades that could reach Absolute Zero (- 273.15 Centigrade), instantly freezing and shattering practically anything they touched. When not in use, they are mounted on the forearms of the Sandleon.
With the end of Romefeller's power and subsequently the end of the Eve Wars, The newly constructed Sandleon's were resigned to never see battle. However, the following month in January, a group of civilians broke into the manufacturing plant and stole three Gundams. Two Romefeller loyalists were dispatched to chase them down. One of them, named Dobert, took and piloted a Sandleon, but the unit was damaged in battle with Tiel Noembreux's stolen XXXG-00W0S Wing Gundam Seraphim and was forced to withdraw. Eventually being upgraded into the XXXG-01SRL2 Gundam Sandleon Custom.
