The YRMS-106 Hizack Pre-Production Type is prototype mobile suit that appears in the novel Advance of Zeta: The Flag of Titans.
Technology & Combat Characteristics
Developed by Anaheim Electronics, the Hizack eventually became the company's first mass-produced mobile suit. Aesthetically similar to the famous Zaku II, the primary mobile suit of the old Zeon forces, this distinctive design could only have been created by Anaheim, which had merged with the Zeonic Corporation, once the Principality of Zeon's main mobile suit manufacturing firm. The Zeonic Corporation’s experience in mobile suit development is incorporated into the unit's overall construction, giving it the same high operating reliability, combat effectiveness and ease of production as the Zaku II, although mechanical reliability was not compromised. Featuring a modular construction, the Hizack is capable of equipping beam weapons and a host of various optional parts, it is also the first mass production machine to include a linear seat and panoramic monitor as standard equipment.
- Shoulder Shield
- Mounted on the MS' left shoulder, the shield is a simple device, being essentially thick slabs of metal that the Hizack can use to absorb the impact from attacks that, for whatever reason, cannot be dodged. However, the shield can only withstand so much pressure before becoming damaged beyond useable.
- Beam Rifle
- The only weapon the Hizard Pre-Production Type carries is a beam rifle, which is powered by a rechargeable E-Caps. Capable of firing concentrated mega particles, attacks from a beam rifle can damage any ordinary armor that has not been specially treated to resist it.
The Hizack entered service with the Earth Federation Forces in UC 0084, and a test evaluation unit was assigned to the Titans Test Team to investigate whether it should be adopted by the Titans as well. Its resemblance to the Zaku made the Hizack unpopular with the Titans, but their need to ensure a sufficient number of mobile suits for their growing organization, they are ultimately left with no alternative.
RMS-106C Hizack Cannon with Armor Unit
The “cannon pack” previously tested on the GM Sniper III can also be attached to the Hizack, which is unable to use multiple beam weapons at the same time, in order to increase its firepower. The Hizack was designed from its development stages to provide operational flexibility through this kind of modular replacement, and it can be adapted essentially without modifications by exchanging parts. Due to the subsequent appearance of mobile suits with higher generator performance which can use more beam weapons, this machine never enters mass production, but it’s used for rear support in certain operations. A detachable general-purpose armor unit can also be installed on its chest.
