Technology & Combat Characteristics
Kaite gives a modified ZAKU Phantom to another mercenary, Serpent Tail member Elijah Kiel, after accidentally destroying Elijah's beloved customized ZGMF-1017 GINN. His ZGMF-1001 ZAKU Elijah Kiel Custom replaces the hand grenades with hardpoints for a GINN's heavy sword and incorporates a customised Phase Shift armour. While most Phase Shift equipped mobile suits have the armour automatically activated as the MS starts up, Elijah can activates the armour whenever he wants on his ZAKU. Furthermore, the PS armour is only applied to certain areas of the MS. These areas are determined after analysing Elijah's fighting style and covers his weakness. Both of these features help to conserve the MS's energy [1]. Elijah's ZAKU is normally gray and turns red when the PS armour is activated. In addition, Elijah's ZAKU includes his trademark "buster sword" head fin and can mount 3-tube "Pardus" missile launchers on its legs, as well as a customized flight-capable Wizard Pack. The shoulders can also be fitted with small beam cannons, removing the shoulder shield in the process.
Elijah's ZAKU, besides being able to mount the standard, Blaze, Gunner, and Slash Wizard packs, it is also equipped with its own custom Wizard pack. This Custom Pack grants the Elijah Custom greater mobility similar to the Blaze Wizard pack but features more thrusters and two side mounted beam cannons for extra firepower.

- MMI-M633 Beam Assault Rifle
- The same model of the beam rifle used by the regular mass produced ZAKU. It also has the high rate of fire as the ZAKU's.

- MA-M8 beam tomahawk
- The same model of the melee weapon of the ZAKUs mounted on the shield. However unlike the ZAKU, Elijah Kiel uses the Tomahawk as a thrown weapon.

- MA-M3 Heavy Sword
- Because Elijah had previously owned a GINN, the heavy swords were then transferred to the more powerful ZAKU and still functions the same.

- M68 Pardus 3-barrel Missile Launcher
- A similar version of the leg-mounted missile launchers of the GINN Assault Type is still available for the Elijah Kiel custom.

- M68 Cattus 500mm Recoilless Rifle
- The same model of beam rifles that is used by the GINN Reconnaissance variation are still used the same way as the ZAKU.

- Beam Cannon
- A pair of beam cannons which the ZAKU Elijah Kiel Custom can equip, these weapons are shoulder-mounted, meaning the ZAKU cannot equip its shoulder-mounted shield as well as both cannons.

- An anti-beam coated blade on the head.
History
Because Kaite Madigan had unintentionally disabled Elijah Kiel's GINN, Kaite compensated by giving Elijah one of his own ZAKU and customising it to fit Elijah's usage. In its first battle, Elijah used the "Buster sword" head fin to penetrate the 360° "Armure Lumiere" barrier of the repaired Hyperion Unit 3, defeating the "Hero of Eurasia",Ivan Zamboise [2]. It was later hijacked by the Carbon Human clone of Goud Veia after his match with Elijah [3]. The ZAKU's whereabouts is currently unknown and Elijah has switched over to piloting the Vent Saviour Gundam that Goud Veia left behind for him.
