The ZGMF-1017 GINN is the standard mobile suit of the Zodiac Alliance of Freedom Treaty (ZAFT) from November CE 69 to September CE 71. The GINN is designated a Zero Gravity Maneuver Fighter by ZAFT, thus the designation "ZGMF." The ZGMF-1017 GINN Elijah Kiel Custom is a mobile suit used by Serpent Tail member Elijah Kiel.

Technology and Combat Characteristics

The ZGMF-1017 GINN Elijah Kiel Custom is a customized GINN unit used by Serpent Tail mercenary Elijah Kiel. Originally there was only minimal customization that separated Elijah Kiel's GINN from its stock brothers, with the only true difference being the blade-like crest mounted on the unit's head and its distinctive bright blue paint scheme. After the battle against Goud Veia, parts were salvaged from the destroyed Goud's custom GINN and used to repair Elijah's damaged GINN. As Goud Veia was a friend of Elijah, the repaired GINN thus holds great sentimental value and this was why he continued to pilot it even as it became greatly outdated.

History

Throughout the Bloody Valentine War Elijah Kiel would use his custom GINN to support Gai Murakumo on missions. The unit would be involved in many missions such as the attempted destruction of the Astray mobile suits from the ruins of Heliopolis and the defense of Artemis. Sometime prior to the beginning of the Second Bloody Valentine War his GINN was badly damaged by Kaite Madigan, when he interrupted a battle between Kaite and Gai Murakumo. It was because of this damage that he changed his GINN to that of a newer unit namely the ZGMF-1001 ZAKU Phantom.
